While i have had many problems reading and writing, the projects i have accomplished have taught me some processes to help.i am like all people i am not perfect, so one of my big struggles growing up was reading and writing. first of all, i always try to write so fast causing it to become messy and unorganized. I find it better to write if you slow down, take your time, and copy notes off a friend if you get behind. Another problem i have is creating a story to write about. This problem may be very hard to fix for most people but, it helps me when i stop everything i am doing close my eyes and start to think about my topic.finally, the last problem i had with writing was punctuation. I never really found a way to help this other than proofreading …show more content…
For instances, growing up i always had an average reading level. I never really was advanced in reading until i started to get into high school. The reason being, i never would read because i did not find it interesting. When i read at my house or school i would start to feel tired or fall asleep. This was a big problem so i started to find books that would interest me and started to read more. I didn't really start becoming a reader until i was in 8th grade. So a process i would use to help me stay interested is doing some research on a book before i check it out, and walking around while i read. This action that i would take before reading would help me alot and boost my reading level to advanced. Another problem that i seemed to have was not being able to comprehend what complex stories were saying. I would tend to try to read fast on complex reads and not understand what they were saying. To fix this i had to slow down and reread some parts till i understood. Even sometimes doing that would not help me understand the text. So first to try to fix this i would try to find context clues and use the internet to help me with anything i did not

Now I could lie and make up stuff that made me like reading and writing but I see no point in that. Honestly I don’t have a lot of memories of reading and writing from when I was a little kid and I can tell you now that football hasn’t helped me at remembering those memories either. With that being said I do remember some memories, some are good and also bad.…

I remember when I first started reading the books on my grades reading level when I was in the 2nd grade. Although most of the other students were reading with no problem, I became bored with reading the those younger level books and searched for books that were much more interesting. My mom talked to my teachers as they formed ideas of the books that would grab my attention better. I then learned that not every student was on the same reading level as each other, regardless of the grade they are in, reading higher level books are more interesting and grab my attention better.…

Until high school, I considered myself to be a very slow reader and I was always the last one to finish a test. This made me very insecure and embarrassed throughout my schooling, but I also think that it pushed me to work harder at finishing my tests quicker. I started to occasionally read in my free time during middle school. I always enjoyed reading series of books as a teenager, but now I enjoy reading books by the same author one after the other.…

Also, my attention span when reading books can easily get interrupted. The first time I was interested in books was when I first started reading The Harry Potter Series. This was sometime in elementary school. The books were quite advanced for my age; however, my grandmother was my source of help. She became my educator throughout elementary whenever I needed help with literature work outside of school.…

When I get so focused on writing a paper, I can get my thoughts down, but cannot seem to focus on the correct punctuation or spelling at the same time. There is a section in LB Handbook on editing, formatting and proofreading (pages 33-40) that can assist me in proofreading. Also, I have the tendency to keep using the same pronoun repeatedly in my paper and use vague word choices. For example, in my reflection paper I used the word “things” often. A sample from my paper is, “At the end of the day, all we were told was that things went well.”…

I continued to scrape by on books with a lower reading level until in the sixth grade. I decided I wanted to try reading the Harry Potter books again so I could discuss them with my friends. However, by that point my minimum reading level was too high to receive points from reading the first Harry Potter book which was a lower reading level. Not wanting to read a book that I would not receive credit for reading, I started in on the second book, completely lost as to what was going on at first. Once I read a few chapters of the book, I began to understand what was going on, and I became engrossed in the story that was…
