Personal Narrative: My Experience With Caudal Regression Syndrome

From the moment I was born, I started facing extreme medical conditions. I was diagnosed with Caudal Regression Syndrome, in which there is an abnormal development in my spine. This led to many other difficulties, and only affects 1 in 200,000 births. My parents were told I wouldn't be able to walk, be developmentally delayed, and have failure to thrive. But they had faith that I would beat the prognosis that was supposedly set in stone. Ever since I was little, I've felt this joy deep down inside. I have this belief in myself that I can accomplish whatever I want to, and that nothing will ever stop me. From when I was four years old and trying to do ballet even though my ankles were fused and would never point. To when I was 11 and climbed up 354 steps by myself to the crown of the Statue of Liberty. I've been told no countless times, but I never let it stop me. Just two weeks ago at the beginning of my senior year, I was in the hospital for emergency surgery. I didn't let it stop me from enjoying first month of school, I still socialised from my hospital bed, and kept up with all my school work so that my above 4.0 GPA wouldn't drop. I've faced extreme trials and tribulations, but 20 surgeries, countless medical procedures and 18 years later, I'm still standing strong. …show more content…
My goal has always been to spread positivity, and make people smile. At a young age I decided I wanted to be a public figure. At 12 years old I made a Twitter, and that's when my love for social media started. At 14 years old I built my own website, HeyItsRemi.com and dedicated it to positive drama free celebrity news. 27 thousand followers and 3.8 million views later, I've been able to inspire people all around the world to spread
