I would not make it known that we have a social work and client relationship. If my client approached me then I would talk with her, but if I was not first approached by my client, then I probably would not acknowledge that we have any sort of relationship. Before our next session, I would look into seeing if there was another support group for the same purpose that met at different times. If there was, I would probably switch groups and not make a big deal out of it. However, at my next session with the client I would also share that I am aware that we saw each other, but I plan to attend a different meeting time so that neither of us will feel awkward during that support group. I would likely share with her a little bit of why I was there, but only to the extent of sharing that I have a child who also has disabilities. If another session was not offered, I would ask my client how she felt having me in the same support group as her. If she felt comfortable, I would talk to my supervisor and ask what they think of the whole idea. If my client expressed concern, I would still talk to my supervisor, especially if I really needed a support
