Personal Narrative: My Experience Of Working In Middle School

Decent Essays
Today was my first day off from my job since...I don't even remember. Since I started working at the middle school I don't really get days off anymore. I'm only 25 so I still just have to help the actual teacher to get me prepared. One thing I really need to get done is getting out of my parents house. Money is a big issue and being a teacher doesn't help with that. Anyway this is my day off so I was going to do the thing I love the most and thats shopping. I saw this pair of shoes the last time I went and I was hoping they would still be there this time. Once I got to the store I looked at the clothes for a little bit, they are way better then the last time I came here. I got a lot of shirts that looked great. Then I went to the pants section.

All throughout my school career, starting all the way in elementary school, school came very easy for me. I found that I rarely had to try hard at anything because it seems like I just knew it. With very little studying I was able to maintain high grades. In middle school I was put in advance math classes and it still wasn't a challenge but then in my junior year of high school things started to get difficult.…

I had a spectacular day! Census was very low so there wasn’t much to do as far as case management, so Jamie and I got to spend some time just talking about things and why things are done the way they are. It was nice not rushing from patient to patient and just doing things without really understanding why something is done the way it is done and why. I knew the social worker at New Hope Rehab walked out last week and I decided to put myself out there and asked about spending some of my hours helping to fill the void of their missing social worker.…

It quickly went from a nice, fun, vacation to a painful, terrible, nightmare. Just about every year before school starts while my mom has meetings for teachers, my dad takes my sister and I on a small, five day trip to different places. This year, we decided to go to St Louis. Little did I know that this trip would soon turn south very, very, fast.…

From my personal experience, when I was in elementary school I remember my teacher would let us sit on yoga ball it always helped me concentrate and it helped me when I was really active because I could not move around, it will make me fall if I move around. I like the idea of standing desks because I prefer standing a lot but when I need to I could sit down on the tool, but I could still move my legs around and be somewhat active. So if one day you're feeling antsy you can just stand. Also I think if your tired it could help you stay awake. Mark Benden also states that sitting desk can cause kids to be obese, he also says that too much sitting is bad for your health.…

On the day it was raining so hard it sounded like elephants were falling from the sky, we went shopping. It was fun to shop as a family, but we did split up a few times, though. A lot of the clothes were for school because of the new dress code. Walking into stores is like having a new start, you never quite knew what it’s going to be like. Jubilation shoots throughout your entire body, and that’s when you know when you are in a store you like.…

The rest of the year was great to me, I finally saw the rainbow. I gained many new friends and I was/am doing fairly well in my classes. I overcame an obstacle of mine that was really large, and I am proud of myself for doing so. I finally got to see what it looks like when the clouds part. I went from being a stress mess to a straight success (maybe not success yet, but soon).…

BEEP BEEP BEEP! My alarm clock goes off on a Monday morning at 4 am. The excitement wakes me right up, and I sprung out of bed. I rushed into the shower because I had to be ready by 5:15. After getting dressed and packing my things for a 8 hour trip, there and back to Sandusky, Ohio.…

“Don’t forget, the paper is due next Wednesday!” My 8th period teacher, Mrs. Oakford told to my class and I as we streamed out of the cramped classroom on a Friday. We couldn’t wait to bust out of the schools doors and claim our prize of a short freedom for surviving another busy, exhausting, and slow week of middle school. I rushed to my locker, grabbed everything I would need for the homework due Monday, threw it in my bag and headed down the hall collecting my friends to walk to town to start what I would hope would be a slow but fun weekend off The weekend went quicker than I wished and before I knew it, it was late Sunday night and I still hadn’t done my homework, I realized this and got to work.…

The beginning of eighth grade, in all of its horror and glory. Students in hordes piling up at the front doors, a jumble of frenzied emotions. New people, new clothes, new supplies, new teachers, new schools, new locker, new classes, new, new, new. I could feel the anticipation in the young sixth graders eyes, the excitement in the seventh graders expressions. Then, there was my grade.…

Prior to middle school, I thought I was satisfied with my position. I had friends, got along with my teachers, excelled in sports, and got decent grades in my classes. Back then, I thought this well-roundedness I sought between these necessities would offer me self-satisfaction. Little did I know, however, that I was going to confront this well-rounded nature of mine during my first awards ceremony in middle school. Among the most intelligent, artistic or athletic of the students present there, I was the one of the few who simply struggled to stand out.…

In the seventh grade, I faced a large transition in life. The previous year I had experienced middle school for the first time, but I would make that entrance again. I moved from Texas to North Dakota, where seventh grade was the first year of middle school. I took on those same fears and hopes that I had faced before, but in an unfamiliar place where I had no one except for family to give me support. I tried a lot of new things that year, mainly wrestling.…

My visit to Costco Wholesale I decided to visit Costco because I knew it would have a greater amount of people shopping at once than other stores near me, such as Fry’s and Safeway. This would allow me to observe a greater number of interactions with more ease. Costco is a membership-only warehouse that sells items in larger quantities than a regular grocery store. Costco claims to have lower prices as well, and they usually carry few brand options for the same product. I went to Costco on Monday at 10:00 am, which is when they open.…

For the first five years of elementary school, I attended the small school located at the back of our church’s property. Enrollment ranged from about 10-15 students in 1st through 8th grade. The last three years of my grade school experience were spent attending Lodi Seventh-day Adventist Elementary. This school went from kindergarten to 8th grade and fed into Lodi Academy, so in all, kindergarten through 12th grade! I came from a small, two-room school, and seeing as I was not very accustomed to being with such a large body of students, suddenly becoming immersed in a class with more students than that of my entire old school was definitely intriguing!…
