One thing that my application does not cover is that I was not born in the U.S. In fact, I had spent most of my life living in China with my grandparents. I moved to the U.S in the sixth grade to join my parents. Before moving to America, I spoke very little English, and as a result, I struggled in academics. Initially, I was placed into an English Second Language class to help with my language barrier. For the next two years, I worked studiously on improving my English level. Over the past six years, not only have I overcame the language barrier, I have excelled in my school’s advanced English curriculum. I enrolled in AP Language and Composition in my junior year and received a “5” on the AP exam. Currently, I am taking AP Literature as a
