Personal Narrative: My Experience In A Trailer

It was a warm summer day, and I was out camping with my family for the weekend at the Wild Goose Ranch, a trailer park a couple hours away from the Bartonville area. I was seven at the time. I was a I-think-I-can-do-anything-myself type of kid. I thought seven was the age for independence, since that was the time my sister was doing everything herself.

So my mom and I were fishing a mile away from the trailer. I had bought a new glow stick the day before, and it was getting dark so I thought it was a perfect time to try it out. I asked my mom if I could walk there by myself to get it. She asked me if I was sure I wanted to go by myself, and I said yes so I set off.

I also had a bad memory at the time. So, it was hard for me to find out the way to the trailer. It was straight most of the way, so I figured that it would be easy, until I found a place where the road split. One of them had a park at the end that I could see. The other one had nothing.

That was my mistake, because I did see a park on the way there. I realized that after two three-way crossroads.

I was lost and scared, wondering if i’ll ever see my mom again. I kept going straight, because I didn’t know where else to go. What I found though was a dead end. So, I went back. But no matter which way I went, I always found my way back to the dead end.

Then I retraced my steps. I got away from the dead end, but I was even more lost than before. I was on a dirt road that I didn’t recognize. I had given up hope that I would find my way back. Then I saw a truck coming. I waved my arms hoping they would pick me up off the road and help me. (I was only seven, so I thought every adult was a nice person.) Then I realized it was my uncle’s truck. I ran up to it. He picked me up and took me back to the

Cranberry juice & Cinnamon rolls Cranberry juice is just juice. Cinnamon rolls are just a delicious breakfast food, to some people. For me, it’s a walk up the stairs, smelling the icing melt inside the oven, wearing strawberry shortcake pajamas, and listening to Roger Rabbit playing in the distance. Walking upstairs with my small feet stomping on the cold hardwood floors. Watching my grandma take the cinnamon rolls out of the oven and putting them in a baby blue plate, she puts them on the center of the table.…

Ten years ago on a hot afternoon as my father filled the black twenty-gallon tanks of water, and the roar of the jake brake and the downshifting melody of the passing trucks filled the air. “Mijo ven y detén la manguera en lo que agarro Cambio” my dad yelled. Why me I asked myself as I stomped over to the truck and got farther from the fun. Pump, whish, screech, roar, and melody were sounds that I would hear while I held the lime green hose in place. After my dad had gotten the change in quarters and took over, I joined my cousin and my sister in a game of tag, again and hoped that he wouldn’t call me anymore so that I can continue having fun.…
