Several years ago, I was very fortunate to visit the campus. My visit included the library. The vastness of the collection was immediately impressive. I was impressed with the comfort of the open meadows, wooded trails that comprise the Vassar campus. I wanted to study history at Vassar.
I enjoy learning Latin, Greek, the classics, and history. I enjoy reading Livius Andronicus, Gnaeus Naevius, Quintus Ennius, Marcus Pacuvius and Lucius Accius. I enjoy reading everything about the ancient Romans. I enjoy reading Latin literature after the fall of the Empire. I enjoy learning about Western Europe in the Middle Ages. I love Latin literature in its original form. I started to learn Greek and already fell in love with Greek literature in its original terms.
There is no better place than Vassar College to learn to put the past in context or contextualize the past on its own terms. The opportunity to explore multiple historical and theoretical viewpoints that provide perspective on the past exist at Vassar and I want to be part of that experience. I want to study early medieval Europe and Northern Europe in the Renaissance and be a student of by Prof. Bisaha. I want to be a student study Medieval and Renaissance Culture with Prof. Choudhury.
