Personal Narrative: My Experience At UITA

Last Thursday, I took the final exam for the Agent Trainee Program from UTA and it went well! Starting at an agency is the best thing for me since I’m at the pulse of every business deal in Hollywood. It forces me to learn quickly and have an opinion.

He is accommodating and will work with your schedule so long as you notify him in advance. At the start of my junior year, I realized that I needed to volunteer my time more than just the occasional “Community Project” that I did with my school’s Student Leadership Program. My mother gave me the idea of working at the Awana Club, a club for children from Pre-K up to 5th grade, which focuses on the Bible and creation of friendships. To a sixteen year old who thought kids were the spawns of Satan himself, Awana sounded like the worst possible place to volunteer. But, my mother is very persistent.…

I m originally from Secaucus New Jersey, I have moved to Houston during my senior year of college. I didn’t know any university during that time because I was still new to Texas. But as time passed by, people would always gave high remarks and praised Sam Houston State University in Kingwood High School. As graduation grew closer and closer; I decided that I will apply to SHSU but sadly I became very ill and required to get my colon removed due to having over 100 cancerous polyps. As time passed it took me a year to finish 3 surgeries and I was on the road of recovery.…

My graduate experience will be light years different then my undergraduate training. I chuckle just contemplating the technological difference alone. Back when I attended undergraduate school there wasn’t the internet, the LoudCloud, e-books, or personal laptop computers. We thought we were “hot stuff” because we progressed from the slide ruler to a state of the art Texas Interment graphing calculator. By the way google informed me that my particular calculator at that time was the first of its kind.…

As a child growing up in Rhode Island, the smallest state in the Union, the idea of a vast planet brimming with civilization and culture was more like something out of a fairy tale than it was reality. So, when my father announced that we would be leaving the country to go to Scotland, the home of his and my ancestors, my world began to expand at a rapid pace. This trip could not have been timed more perfectly. The summer of 2007 marked the end of fourth grade, my first year at Saint Mary Academy Bay View.…

The University of Central Florida has been recognized by Princeton Review as one of the Top 50 for “Best Colleges, Best Value” and the most engaged university in Florida by the UCF Staff. This school is always ‘Under Construction Forever’ and is looking for ways to better prepare its students for the future. I chose to apply to the University of Central Florida because I feel that it’s more than a school, it’s a way to develop myself. While I went on my first college tour in the second year of community college, the University of Central Florida has always stood out above the rest. The students, faculty, and staff are wonderful.…

Working alongside the owner/manager to help run and maintain a quality daycare program for 20 + toddlers. Using teamwork in keeping the peace among the children during daily activities, helping to control outburst and tantrums, teaching preschool and early life skills to the children who were preparing to leave the daycare and begin school. This was a great job, good company, excellent owner, wonderful children who had both bad and good days, (Mondays, and indoor free play aka the cage of death). This job was anything but boring. The children kept me very busy and required me to stay organized, maintain my wits, and sense of humor during some very chaotic stressful situations.…

My first year of high school was winding down, teachers had covered all learning material, and most students were preparing for finals. June had just begun, and along with studying, I had an upcoming saxophone recital for which I had been preparing since April. The Tuesday before my recital, I had my second to last lesson with my teacher, Fred Scerbo, before the recital on Sunday. I was preparing a piece by Charlie Parker named "Anthropology". Despite its difficulty, I felt that I would be able to perform it well.…

Music is my passion, I appreciate all music genres, but I favour country music. I enjoy the simplistic instrumentation as well as the timbre of country vocalists combined with the minimalist dynamic effects and sound processing that is applied to recordings, providing country music with a natural and raw sound, which I hope to replicate in the music I create throughout my studies and career. I hope to have a career in the music industry, and studying for a degree in music production is the most beneficial way to learn how to compete in this thriving industry. I want to become a successful recording artist, mixing and producing my own music, alternatively working as a record producer or studio manager, which will allow me to express my creativity whilst working alongside other musicians.…

The inevitability of transferring has always been more of a plan than a hope. Through my experience at junior college, I know I stand capable of competing academically with students who are keener than I am. Studying alongside students with more discipline than myself will improve my skills plus teach me more than I could learn myself. Concurrently, in today’s job market, having a college degree is considered a basic requirement for most employers.
