Personal Narrative: My Experience At Telemundo

I got the incredible opportunity to intern at Telemundo New Orleans. As a member of PRSSA I attended a networking night last semester, and got to talk to a lot of people. Telemundo caught my attention, so when I stopped and talk, I asked for information and they told me they send me an email. Some weeks later I got an email from a Loyola student that worked there, saying they wanted to talk an offer me an internship if I was interested. That same Friday I went to an interview and got it.
I was not expecting to have so much work; I thought I would only assist on small things. I had some experience on writing scripts, but I had to refresh my memory and write small scripts for my supervisor about some article, either a story that I had to translate

I had support from many of the people in Telemundo, it was an extremely friendly environment, but the job would get done. It helped me get and idea of what goes on behind the scenes on a daily basis. Though I knew I had all the help, my supervisor trusted I could do it on my own; it became my own responsibility.
I want to go into broadcasting, and this is hand on experience. I haven’t taken communication writing, and I already have some experience in it, so I am sure I’m not going to have a problem next semester in that class. I took digital communications, and at the same time edited at my internship, so I had some extra practice, and actually worked with two different programs. Also gained some experience on presenting myself on TV.
I have no doubt that as a college student this is a great opportunity I could have had. I worked on directly on the field I aspire to work in the future. I want to go into broadcasting, and now I’ve seen how it works and even participated in it. Working at Telemundo is a great opportunity and connection for the future. What I learned during this internship will help me in school and in future jobs in every aspect; from the professional skills, to the social skills. This internship opens doors to the field, knowing people and little by little gets to become a News

The skills that I will learn and develop in this course can help me in many of my remaining classes, such as Storytelling, Professional Writing, and Display Advertising and Email Marketing because these are the obvious courses that will require utilization of everything I will be learning during the English Composition 1 class from understanding the role the writing process plays in project development and in the entertainment industry to practicing academic integrity by citing research and external sources appropriately. However, it is my understanding that I will most likely be implementing the skills I learn here for every course because at Full Sail we are taught to write about and discuss subject matter with our peers throughout every…

In April of 2015 I interviewed for a summer job at Yellowstone Bear World, but by the end of the interview I was offered a three month long merchandising internship in the gift shop. Throughout this internship I created a few goals for myself. My main goal for this internship was to help me focus on a route to take for my future career. I pondered the career option to go into merchandising for a while, but I didn’t have any experience in merchandising or retail to know for sure if I could be happy in that field. When I accepted the internship I was excited for the experience to find out if I could see myself doing this as a career.…

Over the summer, I interned in New York City for NewBeauty magazine, specifically its online version, which is published by SANDOW. I worked eight-hour days, four days a week, for eight weeks, and was provided with many real-world experiences that helped broaden my understanding of magazine journalism—a subject I am very passionate about. Although my internship was focused on editorial matters, I had the opportunity to work in an array of areas, providing me with a truly well-rounded experience that will not only help me during my time at Boston University, but in the professional world post-college, as well. On my first day of work, my boss set me up with the company’s Content Management System, which became a major component in my work at NewBeauty.…

When one is asked what their favorite subject is, he/ she may say math or science. It is very rare for some people to hear someone say English is their favorite subject because it is tedious and boring. No matter what major a student may be in, there comes a point in most students’ academic careers when being a valuable journalist comes in handy. I started this internship on the 27th of June I would have liked to have done it during the first summer session, however, I had to take an additional 3 credit hours before that because I wasn’t aware my remedial math course didn’t go towards my degree. I have worked for El Mexicano Newspaper for about two years now, but that was mostly as a distributive position so when I realized I needed to do an internship to gain experience this was my first choice. I have never been a confident writer before this internship and now after having done it professionally I must say that a proofreader and editor is a lifesaver. Consequently, this internship took me out of my comfort zone a lot and for a while that was touch, however I learned to adapt to that and became a better communicator because of it. The toughest part of this internship for me was probably interviewing people.…

Coming into the spring 2016 semester I was a junior Justice Studies major at Clemson University with 72 credit hours completed. I had just transferred to Clemson in the fall of 2015 for engineering and switched majors. In the engineering program it was always lectured to use oral and written communication to communicate ideas and concepts clearly with other students. Similar to the stigma of engineering students, I struggled with writing. I had a hard time with making my ideas within a paper obvious and with meeting the minimum length requirements for a written assignment.…
