She helped me to recognize that if I quit not only would I be throwing away the work that I did do, but I’d also be preventing myself from seeing what work I could do. I admit, I’ve always been a bit of an introvert. In high school, if there was an opportunity to lead or stand out, I hurried in the opposite direction, I was too self-conscious to participate in any situation where I might fail or face abashment, and I particularly avoided events where I would have to interact with people. Therefore, if you were to tell me back then that I would describe myself as ambitious, intellectually curious, and socially responsible, I would look at you dumbfounded. However, since leaving high school, an extensive range of experiences has led me to transform from follower to leader. One of my greatest experiences was attending Radford University for my first Bachelors.…

In my own time however, I was able to assist young African-Americans students in receiving finical aid in college, organized trips to various students in the program. I’ve also helped my church members by volunteering to assist with after school bible study, which helped me become a mentor to help peers in their progression and acclimation into their first year of college and beyond. I have grown to love working with the kids at my mother’s Kids Campus Learning Center job, which gave me the chance to summarize my interactions with younger children and better understand how they think cognitively.…
