Communication skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast paced environment are all strengths I bring into my professional career. I am currently enrolled at St. Cloud State University in the Herberger Business School, which is internationally accredited by AACSB. My educational focus is in Finance and Statistics, where I intend on acquiring a Certificate in Actuarial Science. My anticipated graduation date is December 2018.

I have strengthened my communication skills through my experiences while studying abroad in South Korea. Being in a country where only about 45% of the population is able to speak English, brings challenges when trying to do basic functions in society. Working through these challenges has fortified my communication skills to the point where it is now one of my greatest strengths.

This was the year of 2016, and this was the year that my life changed; I was forced to grow up and learn how to be more independent. Brown is a place where students have the freedom to grow, learn about themselves, and enjoy life. In all my years of school there was always someone looking over my shoulder, interjecting their opinions, or spoonfeeding me the answers. I want my college education to be my own. Taking ownership of my education is a large responsibility, but I am mature enough to handle the challenge. I m originally from Secaucus New Jersey, I have moved to Houston during my senior year of college. I didn’t know any university during that time because I was still new to Texas. But as time passed by, people would always gave high remarks and praised Sam Houston State University in Kingwood High School. As graduation grew closer and closer; I decided that I will apply to SHSU but sadly I became very ill and required to get my colon removed due to having over 100 cancerous polyps. As time passed it took me a year to finish 3 surgeries and I was on the road of recovery.…

As the semester comes to a conclusion, so far I have been very satisfied with my performance thus far here at Slippery Rock University. Being in college has really given me the opportunity to meet so many new people that have been able to positively impact in such a big way. May it be through helping me study for exams or just a great group of friends that I can go hang out with. Don’t get me wrong there most definitely has been some rocky moments here and there but I feel that I really pushed through those moments and have made the best out of them.…

Basketball has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up around the sport with my Grandpa being a referee and playing little league ball through elementary school. In High-School being six foot six inches it was a given I would play basketball. I spent three years on the varsity basketball team with having the privilege of being a Captain my senior year. When I was accepted to Michigan State University it was hands down the easiest decision to come here.…

“Weight broke down the wagon” was something my father told me often when I was younger. He’d often tell my this in response whenever I told him I was waiting for something. Hamilton took me by surprise. I knew it was a small liberal arts college, but I had no grasp on how unique and genuine the community was. So many people said hi to my tour guide, Emily, as she showed me around -- including the line cook in the dining hall! I also heard how a student emailed 10 alumni to help her with something, and all of them replied to her. This kind of close-knit, loving family is what I want in a college experience.…

In my education, I want neither too rigid of a core curriculum nor to loose of one. Yale has the perfect middle where there is a third part of the curriculum that is my choice, allowing me to study my other interests outside the range of my major. Also, after visiting Yale, I found the welcoming environment for which I was looking, especially with residential colleges. Having my residential college chosen for me is appealing as well as the great things in each of the colleges like the Buttery and movie theaters that I heard…

It was the twenty-third of October in the year of 2014 at exactly 2:15 P.M. the day was so far very beautiful as I went to Lamar’s University’s Geology building in room 101. When I walked in, it looked like a lecture room that I would have expected to see most of my college life. It bolstered my anxiety for college to new heights as I became worried about my future; I prayed that this presentation that Dr. Beth Anderson was doing would help me feel positive or “Thinking Optimistically” for my life here at Lamar University. By the time, I had found a place to sit in the lecture room, which had rows of seats in front of me that were in what I call “Stairwell Formation,” the lecture rooms doors began to close. This gave me the signal that the presentation was about to begin, as I waited to see what was going to happen next I looked around the room to see who the rest of the audience was.…

Hebrews 3:14 states, “For if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ.” The most prominent moment of my college experience was deciding to remain a student at Belmont University my first semester of freshman year. Choosing to attend a Predominately White Institution was not the ideal college experience I envisioned. I was faced with many incidents I would not encounter at a State University and most certainly not a Historically Black College or University because of my decision to stay. I was constantly reminded that I was a black face in a white place.…

By doing this academic plan it really showed up what my time in college could be like in terms of classes and getting a degree. Since I have yet to declare a major my academic advisor is Jennifer Jenkins. So when I was filling out the rough draft of my academic plan I filled it out with the degree that I am interested in going into, but not 100% sure at this point, elementary education. Thankfully I still have some time before I have to make a final decision about the college degree I want to earn. With graduating from high school with a total of 45 college credit hours it was able to eliminate many of the general education classes that I would have needed to take had I not taken any in high school.…

One of the things that made the first day at Middle Tennessee State University great was that it was the first time that I realized how close I was to achieving my goal. Since I was a child, I had dreamed of studying abroad to earn my degree. I had already been studying in the United States for some time. During that time, I was studying the English language to be prepared for the academic language I would face at the university level of studying. Studying language has a way of bringing a person down, though.…
