During summer 2015, i realized that i was on track to exceed sixty credits after fall 2015 at LaGuardia Community College. This means i won’t be eligible for any merit scholarship or grant if i were to continue taking classes at LaGuardia during spring 2016. Therefore i had to transfer the but Harvard was out of question since Harvard only accepts transfer student during fall and I have not completed one year of college stay.

Under that circumstance, i had the option to either take break during spring2016 semester and apply for transfer admission to Harvard for the fall 2016 or transfer to other CUNY college just for a semester and complete my application there. Among the two, i decided on the later since i did not want to wast any time and at the same time take some classes.

Coming from a low-income family I was hesitant to attend a UC due to the higher tuition rates than a CSU or community college. However, my application for UC's was a graduation requirement in my high school due to having a higher GPA than my peers so I submitted my application for UCSC without thinking I would get accepted or attend the university. Applying to college as a transfer student is something I never would have thought was a possibility if one we to ask my high school freshman self. That is because I never would have been able to identify the potential positive outcomes that arise from going to a community college and then attempting to transfer out to a four year. Transferring has allowed me to become a much more competitive applicant than I would’ve been as a freshman applicant. In turn this has allowed me to consider more prestigious universities throughout the application process. Another major factor in my decision to transfer is that I have immigrant parents who have to get three kids through college.…
