On the second week of school, I attended the Honors Ice Cream Social outside of Honors Hall on August 29th. I went to the even with Maddie Weninger, a friend from high school, and we both filled out the get-to-know-you bingo sheets. We would literally go up to anyone in front of us and asked them if they could fill anything out on our sheets. As we were talking to people to fill out our papers, we would at least ask people where they were from and what they were going to major in. Since I will be spending a lot of time in my honors classes with a majority of the students at this social, I might as well get to know them. I didn’t set up any boundaries and included everyone. I talked to everyone and didn’t exclude anyone based on how they dressed or how they looked. This social was meant to expand my connections with students in my Honors community. At this event, I met a few friends I still talk to outside of class, so it gave me a foundation to start exploring my Honors experience. How might you continue to be involved within the Honors College? How have you/might you continue to be involved more broadly on campus?
I will continue to be involved in Honors College by attending events put on by Honors. I plan to attend more than just three of the common read events and participate in as many as I can. Also, I want to be present during the first few meetings to see what Honors College is all about and what it has to offer. Additionally, I like to be involved in service projects, and some of the ones that Honors has to offer actually sound interesting to me. Some of the events in Honors College actually sound interesting and fun compared to some of the other activities on campus, so I plan to be active by participating in as many events as I possibly
