Personal Narrative: My Experience At A Dental School

During my internship in the previous dental school, I had the opportunity to provide services to large number of patients from the underserved areas. It helped to hone my clinical skills, improve intrapersonal skills, and develop a better understanding by delivering a wide array of clinical procedures. The skills of teamwork were cultivated by assisting in minor surgical procedures like third molar disimpaction, surgical extraction, intermaxillary fixation, apicoectomy, alveoloplasty, and periodontal flap surgeries. Interactive learning and collaboration with professors and other colleagues helped in improving my knowledge base by sharing ideas, concerns, and different approaches to treatment. The professors gave individual attention to every student and guided us with any difficulties encountered in class and clinics. It was a crucial part of one month posting in the department of Community Dentistry, which helped me understanding social responsibility as a dentist, developing confidence, and helping develop the art of public speaking. All these qualities of my dental school have been successful in shaping me as a self-motivated individual who is driven to achieve excellence.
There were no opportunities to be a part of any research as it was not a requirement in the dental school. Also, the dental school did not have any ongoing research or provisions to conduct any research. However, my coursework in Community Health Research and experience as an HIV research assistant in has taught me the fundamental of research and look forward to be a part of the research at
