On November 10, 2015 from 9:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. in the Great Hall at Coffman Memorial Union in the University of Minnesota, I assisted the nursing and pharmacy students as they conducted their Immunization Tours on campus. I got there early and nothing had been set up yet. I talked to a nurse in charge and she gave me my volunteer t-shirt. She told me and the other three freshman nursing guarantee students to wait for a different nurse who would explain what we had to do. When she came, everyone started setting up. We helped set up and followed the instructions we were given. The nurse told us there were four jobs. Two of us would help out the people who had made appointments for the flu clinic, one would help the people who walked in, and one would guide the people to the correct table. My duty was to help out the people who walked-in. …show more content…
I would then hand them a form with information about the vaccine, and a form for their information. I would also tell them to wait and fill out the form with the nurse. As a future register nurse and as a woman I feel that a have a tremendous responsibility to give back to my community. I believe that one of the most forgotten populations in our community is the elderly, and as a society we have so much to learn from them and to thank them for what they did in the past. I strongly believe that if I could make some positive changes I would decide to do them to influence some senior citizens’ lives and to change their isolation for companion and thankfulness. I would advocate for the elderly with our authorities and I would request a budget to build a clinic to provide preventive health care services for them. I would designate a budget to build a nursing home for the elderly that do not have a place to…

STRENGTHS There were many strengths about this article, that included methods, rates, graphs, and solutions. One of the strengths for increasing this vaccination rate among health care workers is by instituting the first mandatory influence program for all health care workers. In 2004, this medical center was the first to make the annual influenza vaccination a “fitness-for-duty” requirement for every employee. In this setting, all health workers are educated on influenza and the risks if they are not vaccinated. This vaccination was delivered in many ways which include peer vaccinations, a flu cart available at all times for use by hospital staff, and a mobile flue cart that travels around the hospital.…
