My experience as a first-generation college student is no different from my fellow peers who are from an immigrant family; we all are cut from the same cloth. Coming from an immigrant background as others I understand the value of education because the importance of it is beyond any negotiation when your parents immigrated to this country for your education. The path towards college has not been easy it has been filled with complications. But my experience as a college student has been successful due to my mentors who understand the significant problems an immigrant student face when they begin college.
