Cinno (Ch-EEN-Oh), the wild child of the team tends to wreak havoc whenever the opportunity arises, but D.O.G (Dee-Oh-Gee) excels at absorbing new ideas and amazes everyone with his knowledge. While their personalities contrast immensely, I could not ask for a better group, together, we have become a team. Every team needs a leader, typically the oldest or the one with the ultimate experience, which explains why Boss holds the position of my leader. At the front of my line, he teaches the younger dogs by providing them with a superior example to learn …show more content…
D.O.G meets the requirements of being named the rookie. He takes the time to watch and learn from the older, more experienced dogs. I know he does this because when we are by the truck, before a race, if another dog stretches out, D.O.G will replicate them. Even though he has an excessive amount of skills to learn, I notice his willingness to apply the time and his attempts to become one of the top sled dogs we have. Blessed with the gift of knowledge, D.O.G can figure out any problem set before him. Whether it be attempting to pick a treat up from the ground to slipping out of his collar just to acknowledge the dogs at the trucks nearby. Every team needs a rookie that works their way to the top with the responsibility of passing the traditions to younger people as they follow in their

While Bryan Brown may not remember the moments before a van hit him on Eighth Street, he does know that he had kept asking a passerby about Oscar, his service dog. Brown continued to ask about Oscar because the dog had been his life. When asked about the incident, Brown responded, "Don't worry about me, just find my dog." I hear the loud, rough sound of the door opening, as I enter my soft, green house. Today at school had simply been horrific. My alarm hadn’t gone off this morning and everyone was in such a glorious mood when I arrived to the all too familiar building (note the sarcasm). Suddenly I hear the all too familiar jingle of the tags on my dog, buddy’s, collar. Setting down my black and white bag with a sigh, I trudge to the back of the house where he is.…

The first couple of months of school were quite challenging as I was trying to handle the workload and learn the language. Although I spoke some English upon arrival to the country, my language skills were certainly nowhere near what one might consider college adequate. However, it was not the language barrier that was of utmost concern. Shortly before I moved to the country, my father became strangely ill. By the time I started attending college his health was still not improving, and no doctor was able to diagnose him correctly.…

In particular, positive social behaviours, like increased smiles, eye contact, prosocial behaviour and social initiation were established, whilst, negative behaviours, like aggression, repetitive and obsessive behaviours were shown to decrease for most participants. Also, increased social interaction, communication, motivation to engage and social understanding were demonstrated. However, the effects were shown not to be consistent across participants or settings and a small number of participants were shown to have a smaller benefit or developed negative consequences of therapy dogs, such as, reduced peer interaction and a fixation with the therapy dog.…

Rosie, our ten-month old Wheaten Terrier puppy, is our first “real” dog. I catch a glimpse of her out of the corner of my eye and become immediately distracted. Rosie sleeps in the most contorted positions, bracing herself against the closest object(s), frequently on her back with legs heading in one direction while the head in a completely different one. For a supposed restful activity, she appears bizarrely arranged. Rosie, however, frequently draws my attention to where she sleeps, interrupting my thoughts with her snoring, or making various noises.…
