I have grown a lot in English this year. I have excelled in reading, writing and language.English is probably my least favorite subject but I am good at it. I have realized that I shouldn’t set myself so low in English because I am good at it. I have found what I am good at and like to do, which helped me choose my classes for senior year. I began to enjoy English a lot more this year. The most interesting thing I have learned this year is that I’m a very good writer. Last year, my teacher never gave me the grades I wanted for some reason, which made me hate writing. I enjoy it now because I get good grades on them and they have become easier for me to do. My favorite assignment was making the mind map and writing about it. I learned a lot of new essay styles like how to write a research and argumentative paper. I had one challenge with the research paper and became very stressed over. I chose a topic that I didn’t really understand myself so I couldn’t really write a paper over it. I then chose a different topic and got and A on it. My argumentative essay was easy because I argue a lot to get my point across. I have noticed that writing is just another skill to me that I can do without problems. …show more content…
We didn’t read much in class but the books I read on my own I like. I read a book that is now my favorite book. I have learned how to analyze a book so I can understand it. In the books I have read, I started asking a lot of questions to myself and try to find the answers to them. I have also learned to read quicker but still understand. I used to be a very slow reader but I finished a 300 page book in 2 days. Also, with the research essay we had to write, I learned to use Gale which helped me find really good evidence. Now I have a good resource tool for finding evidence for research. I want to be in the medical field so I will have to use a lot of evidence for

Whether we know it or not in this modern society we are writers everyday of our lives. These interactions shape not only how we communicate but how we write as well. Personally, I have been shaped by the influence of both other writers I have known and those I have only read the creations of. Those same influences contributed to both my writing style in the classroom and to my identity as a writer. I spent a lot of my childhood with my nose deep in fiction novels at near by libraries.…

During these past nine weeks, my English skills have improved in my writing, my reading, and my speaking. Some goals that I have for the remaining of the school year include participating more in class, reading more life-changing stories, and mastering the art of writing elaborate essays. In class, I enjoy listening more than I like speaking out loud. I believe that if I try to immerse myself into the lesson, I will be able to learn a lot more than if I just sit in my chair and try to finish my homework in class so I do not have to do it at home.…

My ability to read and to critically think has greatly improved this semester. This is due to the example texts which we read in class. Short stories and excerpts introduced me to different styles of writing and difficulty levels. As we discussed them in class, I found myself comparing them to other texts and thinking about the negatives and positives of each one. I have been able to apply this skill to my own, independent, reading, so that I now think critically of everything I read and read new genres as well.…

The start of the year I have grown in my writing and grammar skills in ELA 10. I have been challenged a lot this year from my teacher on different types of writing processes and different types of writing pieces. In the beginning of the year I used to struggle and have a really bad procrastination on my writing where I would basically just write what came to mind and I meaninglessly put it down on paper. Functioning through and looking back at old pieces of writing I sense if I put my mind to it and not fool around my writing would definitely improve. I've ingenious my strengths and weaknesses this year and to examine all my work I have seen how much I have changed since the beginning.…

Overall my reading experience this year was very productive because I was able to grow as a reader. I have noticed that I have become more insightful and attentive when I read because I have become more able to create post-its that analyzes the text more carefully and thoroughly. I also found it more easier to create post-its because I notice more important plot points and events that directly correlates with important character traits. My favorite literary work throughout the year was “Romeo and Juliet” because it was very dramatic and the plot was very “swingy”. I also enjoyed the play format because it felt more dynamic due better pacing that most other books do not have.…

English 2010 has been a learning experience for me, I've been able to learn a lot about english that I did not know or work on before. With the first essay that we worked on I did a memoir I really enjoyed working on this paper, In class we were able to get freedom to add pictures to are pictures make it a little bit more creative I certainly was not used to this; I’ve been told my whole schooling experience that you have the intro and the conclusion and three body paragraphs. The memoir I was able to write to what I felt like I needed it to be, add pictures so it could appeal more to the eye when reading and also made it easier.…

Over the course of the semester I feel my writing has improved considerably compared to when I first walked into this class. When I was getting ready for this class, my expectation was that this class would be like high school english, where we focused our time on proper grammar and writing bland and thoughtless essays. At first it did seem like this was going to be the case. However, as we got further into semester, I realized we were building towards something much greater than just thoughtless essays. Every assignment was like a level, where you learn different tactics to help you on the next level.…

If technology would be taken away on this day, it would dramatically affect people around the world. We use written communication more regularly now than ever before. Text messages, social media posts, and e-mails, are all modes of communication that typically rely entirely on written words. It’s hard to read emotions and other subtle things like sarcasm through text, but if you write well, you’ll convey your meaning better. That is why writing is a big part of everyone’s life.…

What have I learned about myself this year in the world of english. I have not just grown as a writer or a reader like most people would think is all about. I have grown as a thinker and a little bit as a speaker. In the socratic circles I am fine because people are up there with me but when I am alone I still clamp up.
