The days are dwindling away, and the semester is coming to an end. As I look back at my English Composition class, I realize how far I have come as a writer. The course challenged me to improve my writing abilities and help others improve as well. Throughout the semester, we focused on following the steps of the writing process, developing strong thesis statements, supporting the thesis with strong evidence, and going beyond ourselves while writing. I have learned many skills and concepts in English Composition that will prepare me for the future.

This particular paper created an opportunity for me to strengthen my creativity and descriptiveness. At first, I was a little hesitant about sharing my feelings on a sensitive topic, but after I put my fears behind me, the paper began to flow easily. My introduction paragraph captured the audience’s attention and contained a strong thesis sentence. The body paragraphs contained vivid details that captivates the senses of the reader. My conclusion paragraph clearly summarized the main idea of the paper and brought the essay to a close. I realized after writing this paper I need to improve my word choice. My paper contained words ugly, meaningless words. Now, I try to avoid empty words, and I believe I have improved with every paper. My first paper also contained a few punctuation errors, but I now know how to properly punctuate my …show more content…
Looking back on this composition, I realize I could have been more descriptive. If I had added more examples and connections, then the paper would have been more interesting. Overall, the paper had little to no errors in grammar and punctuation. The composition also illustrates a logical organization, captivating introduction, and strong conclusion. In this paper, my word choice and punctuation improved as well. Additionally, I demonstrated great transitions that allow the reader to move from one paragraph to the next smoothly.
Paper three forced me to go beyond myself while writing about the effects of alcohol. I used my brother’s experiences as an example of the effects alcohol can have on anyone. Writing this paper was difficult to accomplish without using outside resources, but my final composition was a well written. The basic skills of writing I had been taught throughout the course continued to improve in this paper. With increasing knowledge and practice, my writing kept developing positively.
