I wanted to create a safe haven for students to go to. The “Buddy Bench” fosters friendship and inclusion, making a difference in a child’s life. Building the “Buddy Benches” at both, Evans and Limerick Elementary Schools, the schools I attended, really “hit-home” as it is a way I can help the community I came from, as well as to give back to the community that has helped me. Throughout my project, I was complimented on the concept, and set an example for the younger members of my troop. With the support of my troop, I had one of the largest turnouts for an Eagle Scout Workday for my fundraiser in our entire troop. Other scouts have asked me if they could do the “Buddy Bench” at other schools for their Eagle Scout Service Project, when they come that far in their scouting career, and I encouraged them to do so and to pass on the idea of the “Buddy Bench”. After earning Scouting’s highest rank, the Eagle Scout, it felt odd coming to the scout meetings, as an adult, not a scout. Not participating in meeting-activities has made me want to help my troop better itself, and in a way, help me help the troop. As a result, I am offering to help with camping trips we take (the aspect the adults handle) such as summer camp, aiding in rank advancement, and merit
