Personal Narrative: My Dog Sled Race In Antarctica

On May 17th 2016 last year there was a dog sled race in Antarctica and I wanted to join but I didn’t have a sled racing dog so I need a sled dog, and I am going to bring you with me to tell you how that happened and the adventured me and my malamute pup Taya went through. It all started when I saw an ad in a catalog about a dog sled race in Antarctica and I thought that I could get a sled dog and join in on the race. I went to bed that night and woke up in the morning and I went straight to my mom and told her about the race and she said ‘how is a 14 year old going to get into a combative sled dog race in Antarctica’. When we got out side I started training her from this book about training your pup or dog for sled races and I started to train her and she basically already new all most everything. So I went inside to go ask my mom about my 3 year old pup history and she said she has been in five dog sled races and won all of them but for one so there is no need to train her and that was good cause the race was in three days. So the next morning I started to get ready and start packing, it took me over an hour to pack but that was ok cause I had to be to my flight at six and it was already five so me and Taya got in the car and my mom drove us to the airport. Time past and I am already in Antarctica, but we still had to go to our hotel. When we got to the hotel we unpacked all our things and went up to the dog race. The dog race is short because it is only two miles long. We are at the start line and then they on you marks, get ready go, we are on the run and it’s already been a mile and I was for sure we are going to win this and we did! At the end of the race my dog was talking to a male dog and I overheard him saying ‘you are hot as fire’ of course Taya was blushing. But I had to break it up because we had to head
