I am at a healthy weight, I am very active due to walking and biking to and from school, I do not partake in smoking and I rarely drink on occasions. I have no family history regarding cancer, even though my age is at 1.0% risk I am still at advantage however my diet could end up being a major risk factor for me.
For my diet it seems I need to add more plant sources of food, such as vegetables and fruits. Two processed foods that I enjoy eating are doritos and cheese curls. I examined the labels and discovered that cheese curls contain two grams of sugar per serving and 290 milligrams of sodium per serving. Doritos contain one gram of sugar per serving and 180 milligrams of sodium per serving. Most of the ingredients in these snacks are artificial or chemical. I have never thought about what ingredients were in the snacks, or thought about looking at the labels before I eat the food.…

So instead of eating French fries and a bacon cheeseburger, replace that meal with a chicken…

My experience with the Food Intake Assignment has been an eye opening one. The first change I could make in my diet is to lower the amount of sodium I intake. For all three days I went over the recommended intake of sodium, which in the long run isn’t healthy for my body. For instance, if I continue to overdose on sodium I’m at risk for cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, and high blood pressure. Vitamin A is also something that needs to be implemented into my diet more.…

From my own personal observations I eat the most when I am upset, angry, nervous or anxious. This has been the case for me throughout my entire life. My personal dietary change or the goal was to increase whole grains and complex carbohydrates intake. The most important thing that I have learned about myself for the entire 7 days is the fact that I tend to consume more refined carbohydrates but did better in consuming complex carbohydrates. Thus, regardless of my genuine attempts to eat more whole grain foods such as oatmeal, pasta, and bread, my daily whole grain intake usually remain inadequate. My “typical day” diet consist of breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack. As for breakfast, I usually consume a fruit, a cup of tea, cereal or toasted white bread.…

The first thing I notice about my nutrients report is that my calories consumed are below my target calories consumed. I think this is good for me to maintain my weight since I have not been working out the last week or so. Although I’m sure when I get back into running and lifting my calories will increase, but then again my target calories will also increase. In addition, I realized my protein consumption is below my target, not by much but it is under the recommended daily consumption. I’m sure I could have put a little bit more peanut butter on my sandwich at lunch if I knew I was going to be under for my protein for the day.…

Cold Turkey I recently gave birth to a beautiful little girl who is covered in adorable little fat rolls. As cute as the fat rolls look on her, all this extra fluff is not becoming on me. The time has finally come for me to drop the thirty pounds that I gained during my pregnancy. Although I have always loved a good challenge, being a mother of three and starting college leaves very little time for a focused diet. Since so much of my efforts are spent tending to the needs of those in my family it would be easier to ignore the need to care for my physical self however I know from previous experience that when I eat well I feel even better.…
