My Devastating Concussion When I was in 7th grade, I was at a basketball tournament at my school. My basketball team had set up a tournament of 8 teams including us. The best 2 teams from each division would play each other in the championship. My team had made it to the championship and we were going to play against the Bettendorf Bulldogs. The month of December was really boring because I wasn’t able to play basketball but I could still go to all of my team's games. I went to one tournament at Kirkwood college in Cedar Rapids, we didn’t do so well, we went 1-2 and I got a headache so I wasn’t able to stay for the 3rd game. When we were driving back to DeWitt I asked my dad what I would be doing at the Saber Shoot-Out, (a tournament the athletic booster club put on) because I wasn’t expecting to be able to play so I thought I would be helping them since they made the tournament. My dad told me that I would hopefully be playing, I was so happy and excited that i was actually going to get to play again even though the doctor had told me it was a good idea if i no longer participated in sports, but then my mom looked at him in disbelief because she wasn’t sure I was going to be able to. They had a conversation all the way home about it. I was able to play in the Shoot-Out and we went 2-1 winning the silver
