Monday, August 22nd, 2016, approximately 10 o’clock PM. I arrived home after a typical summer night out with my friends at the local Applebee’s, however I was greeted at the door by my already enraged father. Before I had time to take my shoes off of my feet, my father was already ridiculing me, spouting phrases such as “you’re so irresponsible” and “you cannot be trusted with anything.” Now of course there was some foul language included sporadically in those remarks, but overall I was shocked at why I was being attacked seemingly unprovoked. My father then decided to inform me that tomorrow at 8 AM I had to report to the soccer fields at Holy Ghost Preparatory School for soccer tryouts. My father had set out strict regulations for when I was to be in bed during tryouts, and at this point it was evident I disobeyed his wishes. At this point in the night I was fed up with my father and stormed up to my bedroom to avoid any further confrontation. …show more content…

Yes, I still love my parents and have not become traitorous towards them, but I believe that becoming independent before entering college is beneficial. My parents and I have talked about my newfound motivation, and they fully support my belief in being more

Visions are only unique as the individual themselves who make up this country. America is not the same as it was ten years ago. Who would have thought that we would have cell phones that were similar to a small computer in our pocket, a car that could talk back to us, or that we would have an African American president? Our visions for America could change everyday. My vision for America is very unique for my age group.…

A person’s physical and mental appearance changes as his or her adolescent years develop into adult years. Usually in the early years, parents determine how their offspring physically appears and how the child moves forward with life. Parents; however, do not realize that they are taking away their children’s freedom. As time passes by, children who follow their parents’ every order, slowly build up resentment causing them to take matters into their own hands to prove their independence. When I was ten, never would I have imagined a place filled with hunger and lack of support in a place that calls itself the “Land of the Free”. When I thought of America, I only imagined growing families and happy individuals who never have to worry about money, a home or much less food. However, I came face to face with reality one night when my mother and I got lost driving home, finding ourselves along the streets of Skid Row. I vividly remember glancing out from my window, block after block, flashing through the sidewalks lined with tents, makeshift tarps, and cardboard boxes. The sick and the helpless were everywhere.…

Freedom, and rights for that matter, is a giant teeter-totter. You never have quite the right balance to keep it even and up in the air without your feet touching the ground. I think that I’ve had times where I’ve had my rights infringed on,that my rights and my freedom had brought up debate, but I think at some point we all do. I guess a time where I saw that freedom is more defined by the person is when I chose not to stand for the pledge of allegiance last year.…

A “right” is a word only given meaning in the context of actual or imagined oppression. The “right” to vote, the “right” from slavery and forced labor, and the “right” to reign all conjure up differences in their applications. Who and when are the most pertinent differentiations between the haves and have-nots. A right is a right only if it can be taken away through actions or ideologies and granted by a higher power; be that God, the Law, or an imposer of oppression. While humanity may have innate rights such as those listed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), no human is born with rights.…

There are a few guidelines that I have found to be especially influential in achieving pure freedom. True freedom is something that everyone deserves to have throughout their life experience. All people yearn to be themselves, free from the fear of how other people will view them. We all have the choice to embark on a journey to our core beliefs. So that we may adjust them and build upon them to create a better version of our own personal version of reality.…
