Personal Narrative: My Dance Break

Improved Essays
Hi Ms. Pierce,

Hope you had a wonderful break and a nice day,

The word I would use to describe my break is deciphering because I got a break from dance and school. For example, I was able to sleep to try to avenge the early wakings during school days and early dance practices. In addition to that, I had nothing to be concerned about. Having a break from both school and dance gave me time to think about myself and what I wanted for my future; besides, I was able to unwind. The time I had was crucial to me because sometimes in the middle of all the activities in the year I have no time to think. The most challenging part of my break was not having dance class for a long time because even though it is nice to have a time off, it is my passion. I do not deem dance class as an obligation; therefore, not executing it for a long period of time makes me somber. Despite my birthday being on December 23, the middle of Christmas, I went out with all my friends. For example, that day since 12 am I got birthday messages that were all very special and almost made me cry. I also got cards delivered to my house. However, what was most valuable to me was spending time with my friends. First we went to eat and then we went shopping. It was a very memorable moment because all of the people I cared about were there. It will unquestionably be a moment I will never forget. Something else you should know about my break is that I went to Cartagena because I had a glorious time. For example, I got to do a photoshoot at the beach with a professional photographer. That occasion was fabulous and I relished it very much. Furthermore, I spent a lot of time with my family especially with my little brother Pablo. We went to the beach and

As part of an old high school tradition, hundreds of students crowded into a dimly lit cafeteria and danced until the air hung heavy and sweat glistened off every square inch of exposed skin. The schools that began the tradition of the modern homecoming dance most likely did not expect it to evolve into what it is today; at some point, we, as students, lost the true purpose of the event and instead became preoccupied with image. Even though I would have liked to think that those things did not matter, I still found myself altering my appearance that Saturday night to try and show off the best version of myself. I was not alone; other females joined me amidst a pile of cosmetic products and styling tools, and we had the pictures to showcase…

I was practicing as I had been for the previous couple weeks, working on my jump shot, my contested layups, and free throws.…

“When your music begins, you will be in competition mode.” I took a deep breath, it was showtime. I was introduced to the world of competitive dance in August of 2011 and ever since, dance has been the outlet for all of my emotions. I started off as a shy little girl who hid in the corner, barely extending her limbs as I attempted to mock those in front of me. As time elapsed, I persevered through challenging ten hour practices and the taunting of my peers.…

Fall Break My excitement leading up to fall break was almost unbearable, but when it finally arrived, I spent the first two days in bed, catching up on much needed sleep. From hanging out with friends to trying paddle boarding for the first time, my much needed vacation was one I'll never forget. When I wasted the first few days of fall break in my room either on my phone or watching Netflix, I was ecstatic to get a text from a friend inviting me to spend the night.…
