Personal Narrative: My Dad's View Of Snow

Improved Essays
I could feel the crisp, cold air, blast against my face as I got my gloves on and grabbed my snowboard.”Let’s get going before it gets too windy!” yelled my dad. I could see my little sister clip her ski bindings on, ready to go on the gondola. As we were on the gondola, I could see the views of the mountain. I could see the tall, green trees covered in a huge dust of snow. The trees looked like Christmas trees without any decorations. The snow on the mountain was fluffy and white, waiting for me to snowboard on it. I could feel the wind blowing against my goggles as we got higher to the top. "It's so cold and windy!" shouted my sister. My dad sat in between my sister and me on the gondola. He was going to ski with my sister while I snowboarded. “Now, remember when you get off the gondola move to the right …show more content…
I was happy I had my goggles on. There was a huge, group of snowboarders and skiers at the top. The snowboarders were on the ground putting their bindings on to go down the mountain, and the skiers were trying to avoid tripping over the snowboarders. My dad, sister, and I got out of that area quickly because we did not want any collisions. I put on my bindings and started down the slope. It took a little while to get my balance but once I stood up, I felt good. I felt the wind pushed me down the mountain. I could hear the sound from the bottom of my snowboard as I went from side to side. My sister and dad followed behind me. My dad had a helmet camera and was filming both of us as we went down. I started picking up speed as the mountain got steeper. I was not afraid of speed because I knew how to move my board. I stopped at the side of the mountain and looked back for my sister and dad to catch up. My sister was slow and steady. I could hear my dad yell, “Go right then left, right then left” He was a good coach. When they caught up, we continued down to the bottom of the mountain

In spite of this, my mind is focused on the skiers and snowboarders racing their way down and I feel a rush as I replay past trips down in my head. As our chair becomes even with the surface of the peak, I slide off and turn toward the trail I’d planned to take. Though it’s freezing cold, I barely notice under the abundance of layers I’m wearing. The sun hides behind a thin layer of clouds, illuminating the sky just enough to savor the view, but just enough overcast to give it an enchanted feel.…

Every now and then cold can be good.…
