Personal Narrative: My Current Health Plan

My current health plan is an HMO that features a POS option. I receive health care through my father’s employer from an insurance rider that enables me coverage until I reach the age of 30. As their health plan features shared costs among members, the premium for adding the rider to the group policy is shared by all participants. Our current health insurance plan is through CareConnect, which is a division of Northshore LIJ, which essentially enables me to access all Northwell Health hospitals and outpatient facilities within the health network. Through the POS, I can opt for care outside of my network, though the process requires referrals and features higher premiums. My particular plan requires that I designate a primary care provider, though
