Personal Narrative: My Coach

School has started and it was taking up to much time. The constant 5 days a week for 5 hours a day, I had no time to do anything. The competition was getting more difficult and when traveling I was gone for to long. I enjoy my friends and coach, but I think I was done. I was 8 years old and I had just quit karate, but my mom wanted me to stay active. She drove to this place called Anchorage Gymnastics Association and asked me if I wanted to join. I remember seeing people fly really high in the air and climbing up the tall rope in the middle of the floor. At that moment I knew I wanted to join. My first day there, I met my coach named Christopher Nicolet. He was about 5’10 had brown hair and was really comical. We warmed up by running 5 …show more content…
He was always dedicated and full of energy to teach all of us. Everyday we would increase our abilities and strength, because of him. If we did something wrong it was okay we’d just have to do it better the next time. Coach hated sloppy form and would always yell “Point your toes.” One of his many idiosyncrasies was to stretch everyday. Stretching makes you 50% better than you already are coach would say. He taught me so many lessons that I will always remember in life. Including, “Try, try again” and “Things don't happen they way you want them to.” I almost got to level 7 ( level 10 is olympic) and then I got an injury, a bad injury. While doing a double backflip off the rings I landed crookedly and tore two muscles in my back. I took 3 months off and when I tried to join in again I couldn't catch up with the others, school was coming up and I now had to go 5 days a week, and I couldn't take it anymore so I quit. My life would be so different if my coach was a different person or if I never came to this building I now know that my life is changed forever because of him and his effort and willingness that he put towards us for 5 years, I miss him a
