I tried to tackle the college application process as honestly as I could. I knew I was not the smartest or the most talented applicant in a sea filled with thousands of application, but I knew I was unique. There was and still is only 1 me, Brian Bristol, on the entire planet. I used this knowledge to my advantage and did my best to convey my story to each college I applied to. At the moment what I really need to do is as simple as focusing on the here and now; I need to make sure that I continue to put hard work into everything I do. To start with, I need to maintain my grades, I’ve had a 4.0 grade point average since middle school and in order to get into a good college I need to maintain that. In addition, I also need to keep up with my extracurricular activities; by joining clubs, volunteering, and doing other activities outside of school, I’m able to create a solid resume for myself. Finally, I need to make sure to work to get scholarships, and other forms of financial aid to gain the support I would need to pay for college. My college search has brought me to many universities: visiting campuses, and talking to students, alumni, and faculty. While I could receive an excellent education from any of these schools, Notre Dame offers something "more. I once asked him why he bothered to use his precious time to mentor me, someone he barely knew before, his answer: "It's the Irish way".…

June had just begun, and along with studying, I had an upcoming saxophone recital for which I had been preparing since April. The Tuesday before my recital, I had my second to last lesson with my teacher, Fred Scerbo, before the recital on Sunday. I was preparing a piece by Charlie Parker named "Anthropology". Throughout this semester and this class, I have learned more than I thought I ever would. I took the same freshman seminar class at UNCW back in 2013, but did not really pay attention, and now I am paying for that. There are several things that I learned about myself through this class especially how close I am to achieving my Associates degree! I also learned that I am introvert throughout various personality tests, better ways for me to manage my time, studies, and work. The career that I would like to pursue would be a geologist or a sustainable development degree, (as I am still deciding), but these careers excite me because they involve the outdoors and ways to help people, the environment, and everything around us.…

My idea to be successful is to attend as much schooling as I possibly can to speed up the process of learning more material CBK has to offer. Coming from a small town in Oregon i know communication and asking for help to be successful in life isn't a problem to communicate. The idea of showing up the majority of the time is to educate myself to the fullest and learn as much material being taught at CBK as i can this year.…
