Personal Narrative: My Career As An Imagineer

From the magical rides to glorious castles, Disney World truly is a wonderland. As a child, I constantly dreamed of visiting the sites I saw in various Disney movies, and my dreams came to life once I had visited Disney World. Through every visit, my love grew, not only for the characters, but also for the intricate structures, and the amazing architecture used to create them. From styles ranging from Victorian to Gothic, the exposure to different styles of architecture was endless, and I was intrigued more and more with every passing second. After extensive research in the creative jobs offered by Disney, I had realized that a career as an Imagineer served as an ideal choice for me, due to my interest in architecture and engineering. Once I had realized that architecture was the path I wanted to follow, I immediately searched for ways to incorporate my long time love of Disney with my desired future career. Then, while watching a documentary on the history of Disney theme parks, I was introduced to the Imagineer. By becoming an Imagineer, I would be able to work for Disney as an Architect, enhancing their theme parks both structurally and creatively. As a member of the Imagineer team, I would generate new ideas in addition to innovating previous ones, pursuing my passion while also implementing my childhood dreams. However, in order to even reach these goals, I first have to become a licensed architect. Therefore, I have taken the necessary steps to prepare me for that …show more content…
By taking architecture, art, and engineering courses, I have been able to create a foundation of understanding in these fields. Through the design and creation of a variety of architectural models, and the introduction to various Computer Aided Design softwares, I have discovered my passion for the various aspects of architecture. Overall, while becoming an architect may present various challenges, I believe that through adequate preparation and robust education, I will possess the ability to achieve my childhood dreams of becoming a member of the Disney Imagineer
