Personal Narrative: My Car Race

Beep! Beep! Looking over at my iPhone, the screen lit up the room with the time 5:30 AM. Swiping the screen, the phone turns off and the room plunges into complete darkness. My body forced itself to get up, while my mind was telling me to go back to sleep. I poked my cousin, Delvin, in order for him to wake up. Tired, my legs touched the wooden floor and made its way towards the closet. My hands grabbed the running clothes inside the closet, and I proceeded to open the door and trudge down the dark hallway towards the bathroom. I put on my white Time to Run shirt, black Nikes running shorts, my cousin’s contrasting neon and grey colored running socks, and my brand new running shoes. Upon the area of the race, my palms were filled up with sweat. I anxiously waited by leaning one-legged against the brick wall that was beside multiple restrooms that reeked of feces and barf. After only a trifling week of excruciating practice, I was ready to attempt my first 13.2 mile run.

Mindlessly, I took off jogging at a decent pace with Delvin beside. Breath after breath, my mind got more lightheaded. Stride after stride, the muscles of my legs slowly diminishing and tearing. Halfway through the race, each minute felt like 10. My spine unfolded out a sharp pain, and with feet numbed, my decent pace began to drastically slow down. With throats and lungs dry as the Sahara Desert, my brain told me to stop at every water fountain I encountered. At the fountain, I splashed water against my face that was already trailed by sweat. The cool water dripped down my neck and absorbed into my already drenched shirt, cooling my torso. Each gulp of water felt like a victory for my parched throat, like rain during a

When I ride it's like the earth stops at every corner so I can check to make sure a, loud, car isn't roaring towards me. It's like that feeling in your chest that tells you that everything is going to be ok, yet your mind is screaming at you that it won't be. I ride because I was thought that you need to be active in life, but it was never about the one hour of activity time we are supposed to have growing up. it was much more than that. I didn't need help to ride, I needed help to face down my enemies, or conquer my dreams.…

Before Brayden arrived to pick me up, I worked both of the horses for a hour each. Afterwards, I bushed them and turned them out to the field for the day. They deserved a day off relaxing and grazing under the sun. Before turning them loose to their own devices, I spray them down with fly spray on and slip their fly masks on. Both horses trot around the field before settling down to graze.…

My first car was something that I greatly was looking forward to getting as a child and my interest in getting one grew, as the days got closer to my sixteenth birthday. The first car I owned was a Automatic Black 2004 Ford f-150 truck, which I discovered on a website called Craigslist. It was priced at five thousand nine hundred dollars with only eighty-four thousand miles on it, which in my case was great considering that I could only afford a seven thousand dollar car. The truck came with all manual locks and windows and also had a small amount of hail damage that could really only be seen at a certain angle. But even with reasonable price on the truck I still attempted to negotiate for an even lower price to further my luck.…
