Personal Narrative: My Brain Aneurysm

My grandmother has been a very important person throughout my life. My entire childhood was spent with her, but once I started getting older, it has been hard to keep up with each other. During this time of our distant relationship, she happened to experience a ruptured brain aneurysm, and I have never gotten the opportunity to sit down with her and learn more about this. She cannot recall anything that happened after when she was experiencing symptoms up until four to five months post insult, so I also referred to my mom and her husband for this information.

It turned out to be that her shunt was having a major complication, so they had to go in again and fix …show more content…
One major downside to this is not being able to ride horses anymore. She has been riding horses since she was five, but she was told she should discontinue this activity. She was heartbroken. A couple other things that she mentioned were numbness in her fingers and occasional short-term memory loss. She admitted that she will get up to do something, but she will soon forget what she was going to do. I have also noticed she has a tendency to repeat the same questions while having a conversation. This could also be from her short attention span that I have noticed. She seems to zone out when talking to her, so I think the reason why she asks questions over again is because she was not listening to the answer the first time. Something that is quite scary that she says occurs every once in a while is that she will get terrible headaches or pains in her neck that are usually due to her shunt. My mom also stated that my grandmother has times where her mood will be inconsistent and
