Personal Narrative: My Birth

As far as I can remember my birth was on October 17, 1998 at 11:00 pm at Mount Sinai hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. My birth was very surprising, according to my mom, she was eating dinner with my dad and two brothers Dionte and Demetrius at the dinner table and as soon as they were finished eating her water broke and I was ready to come out she was in so much pain but in happiness she said “The baby’s coming, The baby’s coming !” My dad and brothers rushed her to the hospital where she gave birth to me at around 11:00 pm she gave one more big push and here I come crying but I could image her face the first time she saw me.

I weighed 10lbs and was healthy as can be. While at the hospital My mother named me De’Andre but had trouble with my middle name, That’s were my aunty Jo came up with my middle name Montel and at 2:00 am my name was official and I was named De’Andre Montel Grays. The next day my parents was able to take me home, there I meet the rest of my family to cousins all the way to aunts. According to my dad, he said everyone was glad to see another child in the family, he also said everyone brought me gifts like binkies,bins,high chair,and a lot of baby food so I can eat. Everyday my family would stand me up on my own two feet and and walk me to the kitchen back to the living room, According to my brothers Dionte and Demetrius they said that I never fell every time my mom or dad walked with me. On March 16, 2001 I was 3 years old and I finally said my first official words which was “Mommy and Daddy” and I was also able to say my brothers name “Dionte, Demetrius”. The the day I said that everyone’s face lit up with happiness and joy, I felt that I was bringing smiles to people’s faces in the family.
