Personal Narrative: My Big Five Personality Test

The results of my Big Five Personality Test revealed that I am relatively open to new experiences, well organized and reliable, remain calm even in tense situations, neither social or reserved, and neither extremely forgiving or irritable (Potter, 2011). The test gave me a deeper insight on my personality and reinforced what I already know about myself. I have always been creative and innovative, and continually seek learning opportunities. Yoder-Wise (2011) believes that an effective leader is committed to a lifetime of learning and seizes enhancement prospects all the time. Moreover, I have been proven to be conscientious, self-disciplined, and reliable. I always fulfill my responsibilities at home, work, and school in an efficient and timely manner. The Trait Approach Theory identifies these qualities and characteristics as valuable for successful leaders to retain (Northouse, 2010). My leadership assessment identified ethics as my weak point and suggested for me to improve it by striving for meaningful work, prioritizing good communication, and acting with integrity and in accordance with my principles. As I’ve noted earlier, I still struggle with expressing myself and connecting with other people. I think this could be attributed to having English as my second language and growing up in another country. Moreover, I always have a hard time making decisions when faced with an ethical dilemma. In order to become an effective nurse leader, I believe I should invest more time understanding the different ethical principles and applying the ethical decision-making process in my practice. I understand that this will be a challenge. Nevertheless, I’m determined to my professional advancement and
