Personal Narrative: My Air Conditioner

Improved Essays
The summer that seemed to be infinite finished with a brute awakening early in the morning coming from the anxious feeling that indulged my body. It had been a while since I had woken up so early in the morning, causing my eyes to feel as heavy as metal which made the whole boresome process of getting out of bed, harder. I finally slid out of the sheets and sat up right, all while half asleep until my feet suddenly touched the ice like white tile floor. The frigidness of the room crept through my feet into the rest the body as quickly as I regretted getting out of my comfortable mattress and multiple plush blankets. Asking myself why in the world the air conditioner was on so low I quickly made my way to the bathroom as to run away from the snow spilling out of the air vents. In a swift moment I was done getting ready and by then my mother was all set up to go. She was excited, never letting her grin fall. She …show more content…
Earlier the field looked like a fun place but now being on it made my chest burn from trying to keep up the pace with the other kids. After we were done running I felt like I was drained from all the liquid in my body from all of the sweating I had done. I saw a group of girls go up to the coach and seemed to ask him for permission to go and drink water. I started walking towards him in hopes that he would let me go but I froze half way there noticing that I would have to actually talk to him. In my mind I asked myself “…but what if he’s mean? What if he says no?, What if he makes fun of me for not knowing English?” I decided not to go although my throat felt as dry as hay. After the period had ended I followed everyone back inside where we had class. When we went to lunch I followed everyone’s actions carefully so I knew exactly what to do and did not have to ask anyone for help. What had happened earlier that day became a blur when I noticed that we were getting ready to go

Both of us tired from barely being able to sleep from our current state of exuberance, but not slowed due to excitement and energy drinks. As soon as we opened my front door we were bombarded with cold northern air and snow gently falling as if to a childhood lullaby. The sound of our sneakers squeaking in the firmly packed cold was music to my ears. The smell of the outdoors was more a feeling of pain than a distinct smell, like fire going through your nostrils and straight to your lungs…

The ground was cold on my bare feet, and the air seemed to cling to me like a hermosa doncella at a pub. I felt the uncomfortable, and depressed emotions that the young man was radiating with as I gently lifted him from the floor. His body was weak and nimble, I could break his bones if I felt necessary. He let out a quiet moan as I struggled to get him off the ground. Two men tugged the oversized table into the spacious room.…

Dainty snowflakes dusted my shoulders as I darted across the open courtyard. Yawning from a hard day’s work, I quietly knocked on the studio door. Looking up meekly at the sun shining through a grimy window, Ava realized she was in a cellar, somewhere, but she did not know where. What she did know is that she woke a day earlier, handcuffed to the rusty iron radiator that was anchored to the basement wall, but for how long she could not tell. For the entire next day, her screams for help went unheeded, as she sat on the cold basement floor, not only famished and dehydrated, but also mostly exposed and petrified. Adjusting the petite negligée she wore, she attempted to shield her expose skin from touching the frigid cement floor in an attempt to remain warm. All the while her left hand remained intractably cuffed to the radiator a little over a half meter off the ground.…

10:21 A.M. Dark clouds creep across the sun, and soon smother its light. Outside, the once glimmering Bay freezes. The warmness of the afternoon mixed with the cool breeze blowing lightly tickled my nose as I swung in a white crochet hammock. I could hear the faint sound of the lapping of the lake on the rocky shore. Bugs chirped to say goodbye to summer and the sun cast across the water making it glimmer. I looked across the water to cherry island which I longed to visit but my mom and dad told me no because it was private. I saw the old boat "patches" resting on the grass near the shore drying.…
