Personal Narrative: My Advantages As A Community College

Decent Essays
I’m glad you took the time to write me, few students are interesting in important details about their education, Forsyth Tech has many advantages as a community college.
I do remember your sister, Marguerite was an exceptional student.
The work load is very manageable; however, it varies depending on how many classes you take per semester, I know many full-time students at Forsyth that also have a part time job, I myself have a full time job, it’s very important that you can manage your time to meet projects, and homework deadlines.
The instructors are accessible, but keep in mind that the best way to contact an instructor is to plan ahead and make an appointment. They will be glad to seat one-on-one with you.

Brown is a place where students have the freedom to grow, learn about themselves, and enjoy life. Opinioned doesn’t sound as an appealing word to me I should say I like for people to understand my views completely also I don’t mind if someone does not agree with me, it just adds more depth to the discussion.…

My past laid out upon a table. My GPA, my resume, my test scores. An unfamiliar man whom I met for the first time was frowning, turning around in his creaky red chair, while hurriedly trying to contextualize my life with just a few pieces of paper. For 15 minutes, he sat there, unhappy, tapping his foot, analyzing what I’ve “done” with my life. He took a sip of water and suggested that I go to community college.…

Hamilton took me by surprise. I knew it was a small liberal arts college, but I had no grasp on how unique and genuine the community was. So many people said hi to my tour guide, Emily, as she showed me around -- including the line cook in the dining hall! I also heard how a student emailed 10 alumni to help her with something, and all of them replied to her. This kind of close-knit, loving family is what I want in a college experience.…

In my education, I want neither too rigid of a core curriculum nor to loose of one. Yale has the perfect middle where there is a third part of the curriculum that is my choice, allowing me to study my other interests outside the range of my major. Also, after visiting Yale, I found the welcoming environment for which I was looking, especially with residential colleges. Having my residential college chosen for me is appealing as well as the great things in each of the colleges like the Buttery and movie theaters that I heard…

All my life, I’ve been aware of the people around me and considered what I could do to make their lives more fortunate. With this interest in mind, I joined the Anti-Bulling Club (ABC) at my school in the 6th grade, eventually becoming ABC president in the 10th grade. As president, my biggest priority was to make my school a place where students were welcomed to engage in discussion unafraid of what might be said; I tried accomplishing this goal by getting volunteers to hold the doors and greet peers to school each morning. Through creating this inviting atmosphere, students participated in more constructive conversation, leading to provoking questions that even teachers could not answer. When I transitioned to community college life in the…

My parents make an average amount of money, but over the past year, the cost of college became a reality to me and my family. Each semester the total cost for my schooling is $8,284.00, since I am currently receiving help from the U.S. Military, they pay for roughly $3,599.00 of my schooling cost, and I thank them so much for their help, but my parents are left with a total of $4,487.00 to pay on their own and it has become a strain on them. I have a younger sister who is in high school who loves playing sports and recently she has come up with the idea of trying to join a volleyball league, which means more money. I didn’t think about all that would go along with it and at the time I had no idea so in an attempt to convince me not to graduate early, my counselor told me to think about it and really weigh out my options. I thought about it a lot and didn’t see a single reason against it. 2 weeks later, after speaking to my parents I went right back to him and told him I am graduating early. He then asked me what's my plan.…
