Personal Narrative: My Adaptation In Wisconsin

Improved Essays
I am an immigrant child. I came here just a week after my fifth birthday and had to quickly adapt and accept the new culture that was thrown at me even if I didn't always like it. This was my new life and I had no choice but to learn it. This was my first and arguably my biggest adaption I have ever had to make in my life so far. The next one would take place right here, in Wisconsin.

Lastly one thing that hasn’t really changed would be the love I have for my dearest mother.…

With the windows down, the crisp, cool summer air permeated throughout my body, acquiring every hair to stand at attention. Buffalo surrounded and granged lazily through the corn fields that shot high to the sky, as if every row was assembled soldiers getting ready to march. My Family immigrated to the United States when I was just two years old. Growing up in an unknown place surrounded by a foreign language was difficult to say the least, if not for me then for my hardworking parents. This may have not been the most convenient of circumstances being raised in total isolation with no family, but it transformed me into the woman I am today. From this I have been able to appreciate my surroundings more, knowing the things people take for granted in the United States are privileges in other countries. Drivers complain about potholes in the roads, where i think of them as lucky to even have roads.…

I’ve lived my entire life in Indiana, as have my parents. My mom and dad were raised close to Monroe and went to Adams Central, where they met and fell in love. They ended up moving north to Fort Wayne where they had my sister and I. We began our schooling in FWCS, but we moved farther north to the tiny town of Huntertown later, which led to my sister and I switching to NACS for my high schooling and her middle and high schooling. Due to all of the events that have happened here in Indiana throughout my life, and due to most of my immediate family living in the area, I have a desire to continue living and working here.…

“Zilaishu” is a Chinese term that refers to certain type of people who can quickly become friends with strangers and is also known as “born socializer”. That was one of my titles through the previous 17 years of my life. Based on this special characteristic, I was pretty confident about my socializing skills before I came to America. In my anticipation, I would speak fluent English and easily adapt to Western culture by hanging out with local friends; I would have little difficulty in expressing my own ideas and speaking out loud in lectures and discussions because of my outgoing personality; I would be actively involved in club events and even have an American boyfriend through socializing. I know those of my expectations could be exactly…
