For the majority of my professional life I worked primarily in the private sector; consequently, I have very minimal professional experience in the public sector. While rummaging through various documents, searching for material required for the completion of this analysis, I recognized that there are overlapping and recurring themes which clearly point to who I am as a professional and, thus, the direction in which my professional life should proceed, public service. Therefore, my professional mission statement is, “To vigorously perform my responsibilities as a public administrator and to enhance the quality of public service by providing my clients with dedication, honesty and a commitment to make the best interest of all, my first priority.”…

As soon as I ran into my room, I could sense that something was out of place. I thought it was that I left my homework at school or that I did not feed my pet fish Arnold, but whenever I thought of Arnold I thought of my other pet dog Rocky. The Journey “One glance at a book and you hear the voice of another person, perhaps someone dead for 1,000 years. To read is to voyage through time.” - Carl Sagan, an astronomer, astrophysicist, and author I never loved to read. It always seemed boring and purposeless, which caused me to never truly focus on the meaning of the author’s message. My mind always wandered because I never felt the words that the authors were feeling.…

3 Things As I went around asking different family members what they were grateful for, all looked intrigued as I posed the questions. Although their answers varied in length and meaning, it was interesting to see and hear what my family had to be grateful for. Furthermore, hearing the comparison and similarities of their items. I wrote my first “3 Things” down quickly at first as if already having the answers ready. I revaluated and decided I had much more specifics to recognize.…

The Future The frequent question asked by students is: “What would my future be like?” Well, today's society has become more challenging as the years pass, and “education is becoming the number one passport to the future”, as Malcolm X once said. The speech that Barack Obama and Harry Kim made about education being important for the future and the countless lectures that Mr. Thoma drilled into my head had me feeling the elation of my entire life. I feel the perseverance to not let my community and my family fall in disappointment.…

Life’s challenges are not supposed to paralyze you, they’re supposed to help you discover who you are. Successful people always go for the next challenge, setting the bar higher than before and will make you stretch more, making your way to better results. Challenging yourself can cause self confidence that will radically change your perception, the picture you have about yourself, and you will start to see yourself already there, already changed, for way better. Confidence I’ve acknowledged that word just recently. I was shy and very quiet and I still am today but, not as much.…

Before the beginning of my senior year, I had no plan of furthering my education. I didn’t prepare for anything, from taking my SATS to looking in to colleges to even thinking about what I’d like to study. I wasn’t allowed to have a plan for my own future, so I didn’t waste my time in thinking about it, someone else had already determined it for me. For three years I was in an unhealthy relationship, where I had no control over anything, from the clothes that I wore, to the way that I replied to questions, to even what I would be doing after I graduated, which wasn’t going to be much. I was confined to forever being someone else’s puppet.…

The Inevitable As a young girl, I was fearless. I could run marathons, climbed trees as big as skyscrapers, and deer hunted with the guys in the dark woods without fear but what almost defeated me was not my two older sisters or breaking a limb being a “tomboy,” what almost defeated me was a simple strawberry. When I was young, strawberries were one of my favorite snacks. After all, who could resist munching on delicious, bright-red strawberries? I once took on great four-legged beast.…

My goal for the future is to obtain financial stability. The thought of being able to purchase what I want or need without having to check my bank account is reassuring. It would also bring me a lot of joy to help my family financially. I would help pay off their debt and buy them what they deserve, which is one of the main reasons I want financial security. Additionally, at some point in my life, with financial planning I would not have to work as hard and worry about my future.…
