Improved Essays
“Wow I have really improved,” I thought to myself as I looked at my old handwriting. Through the years I have learned as I went through each grade, sometimes I learned how to improve writing, and other times I learned something new in math. Because my teachers pushed me to do better, I improved in math and science, and I learned more about grammar, eighth grade was my best year.
For starters, 8th grade year was my best year because my teachers pushed me to do my best. When I did something that I didn’t really understand, they would show me how to improve and I would try again and I would do better. If I had trouble or problems I knew I could talk to my teachers. I can feel that I have grown a lot since 6th grade I look back at my work from 6th and 7th grade and I remember struggling with the work but now if I was given that same work it would be a slice of cake. I would like to thank all of my teachers for helping

In math I learned about exponents and how to solve equations for a graph thanks to Mr. Gutierrez. In science Mrs. Hurst taught us about the moon phases and about physics. My teachers are really great because they know how to explain things clearly so that me and my peers can understand what to do. In these classes we take notes frequently so that we can learn about subjects and ask questions if we need to. Taking notes helped us to get an explanation and more details about a subject. We also did activities to help us remember. In science we were doing a review game. You had to answer the review question and then take the ball and throw it into the recycle bin. In math we watch videos, once we watched a video of a person who took a cone and filled it up with water and poured it into a cube they had to do that three times. These activities help me understand a lot I didn’t do anything like this in my other

Tycianna Caldwell Reynolds ENGL 1010-01N 8 Oct. 2015 Taken for Granted: America We as individuals are very quick to look only at the bad sides of situations. We are sometimes only able to see the things that we do not have and overlook the things that we do. We take for granted things like freedom, equality, and being able to gain an education. Many forget that these things are not guaranteed to others that live in different places. I realized how fortunate I am to live in America when I met someone from another country.…

They allowed me to grow as a writer and develop a style I could call my one. These teachers were the people that encouraged me to love creating my own stories and situations, sharing my opinions with others, and making sense of my own thoughts that I didn’t yet understand. My love for reading was supported my one teacher in particular; I remember her saying, “Unless the material is toxic and misleading, reading can never be negative. Expand your vocabulary and become a cultured individual without even taking a step.” Even though I had teachers who were extremely supportive, I also had teachers who discouraged a personal writing style and wanted us all to write in the same, to-the-point tones.…

In the seventh grade, I faced a large transition in life. The previous year I had experienced middle school for the first time, but I would make that entrance again. I moved from Texas to North Dakota, where seventh grade was the first year of middle school. I took on those same fears and hopes that I had faced before, but in an unfamiliar place where I had no one except for family to give me support. I tried a lot of new things that year, mainly wrestling.…

School is an extraordinary journey that prepares us for life’s challenges in the future. I knew middle school wasn’t going to be filled with coloring activities and jigsaw puzzles like what I had experienced in elementary school. My junior high years were unexpectedly difficult. In order to reach my goals and be successful, I had to mentally prepare to be determined, focused and responsible. 6th grade began on August 10th; I felt nervous but confident.…

Finally, i’m a ninth grader, I said when I left the junior high on the last day, but it felt like such a surreal feeling until I walked into the doors of the high school, the high school is as big as an elephant, or maybe even as big as outer space! I thought. I said that I know my strengths and weaknesses for example, one of my strengths is that I can usually catch on pretty quick to what is going on around me, but one of my weaknesses is that I don’t really try as hard as I could. When I look bad on my ninth grade year I wanna remember that I stepped out of my comfort zone, and that my year was simply exquisite! I am really going to push myself so I can make this year the very best.…

To this day, I remember my kindergarten teacher Ms.Karagarto. Even though I was obviously very young when she taught me, I still remember how great of both a teacher and person she was. When I left Kindergarten, I knew that I wanted to be a teacher because of her and to this day I haven’t changed my mind about it. Whenever I go home to Houston and am in the area, I always make it a priority to go by her classroom and visit her. Since I was young, I have spent both my school years and summers babysitting and nannying, and both of these things have shown me that I absolutely love spending my time with and interacting with children.…
