Personal Narrative: My 7th Grade English Class

Improved Essays
I was a great writer in middle school and I believe I still am, but I could always be better. My 7th grade English class consisted of my good friend Kris and two girls named Hailey and Reilly. Well, I really liked Reilly and decided to ask her out. I used to be a very nervous kid, especially around attractive girls, so I wrote a letter, asking her to go out with me. I gave it to Hailey, her friend that was sitting next to her at the time. She put it on her desk when Reilly wasn’t looking and from my desk, I watched her read the letter. She started reading it and I was reading it in my head too. I put so much effort into writing this letter that I knew it line for line. When she came across a line that complimented her, I watched her smile and

There are good writers and there are good writers who work hard to become better. Mrs. Fiske, my English teacher junior and senior year of high school always told me that I was one of the best writers in my class but I could always be better. Spelling has always been one of my strong suits and I always get bothered when people can’t spell simple words. I’m pretty good at writing essays but I do not enjoy writing them at all.…

Upon entering my 1st grade classroom, students are welcomed into a multicultural, yet simple world. There are a few maps on the wall and a globe in a corner, and some family photos on my desk. A few simple plants, some with colorful flowers, are placed around the classroom. The seating arrangements include circular tables, with four-to-five students at each table, for work in groups.…

My parents have said to work hard and do my best in school. I never understood why until I got older. The reason they told me to do my best in school was because they wanted me to think about school and my future. Both of my parents didn't get the chance to go to college. They both came to the United States looking for what most people come to the United States for ‘The American Dream’, they wanted a place where they could raise their children and find a stable job.…

“Don’t forget, the paper is due next Wednesday!” My 8th period teacher, Mrs. Oakford told to my class and I as we streamed out of the cramped classroom on a Friday. We couldn’t wait to bust out of the schools doors and claim our prize of a short freedom for surviving another busy, exhausting, and slow week of middle school. I rushed to my locker, grabbed everything I would need for the homework due Monday, threw it in my bag and headed down the hall collecting my friends to walk to town to start what I would hope would be a slow but fun weekend off The weekend went quicker than I wished and before I knew it, it was late Sunday night and I still hadn’t done my homework, I realized this and got to work.…

In the seventh grade, I faced a large transition in life. The previous year I had experienced middle school for the first time, but I would make that entrance again. I moved from Texas to North Dakota, where seventh grade was the first year of middle school. I took on those same fears and hopes that I had faced before, but in an unfamiliar place where I had no one except for family to give me support. I tried a lot of new things that year, mainly wrestling.…

That Day in Fourth Grade “People come into our lives for a reason, bringing something you must learn, and we are led to those who help us most to grow if we let them and we help them in return. -Glinda” One of my best friends today, Teonna Frye, has influenced a lot of the choices that have made me into who I am today. I first met her as a “not-so-little,” brown-haired fourth grader. She was a giant that towered over all the kids in our grade.…

Throughout my first semester of college level English, there were various pieces of writing that I had to develop. A large range of them were opinionated, which is something I am not used to. In high school, teachers would tell the students exactly what type of essay to write and how to write it. High school papers were extremely concise in a way that a student was not allowed to think too far out of the box; ideas were stifled. This semester I was able to write essays on topics that I could relate to.…

I remember when I was 5, the first time I went to a building daily for 8 hours. I sat down on the cold blue chair. In front of me was a bin of crayons, all the colors of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and purple. I remember sitting in the cold room and having the freedom to draw marks on my blank sheet of paper. The dye scratching against the table, colors spreading across the canvas like the sun, rising in the early morning.…

When I walked into Mrs. Buckhold’s class the first day of the semester, I had the preconceived idea that I wouldn’t have to put much effort into the class, or that I didn’t have a significant amount to improve upon in my writing. On the contrary, the entire first semester of English Composition was a literary journey—a journey that helped me establish my voice as a writer and build upon the solid—but far from perfect—foundation I already had as an effective, persuasive writer. While my writing certainly has improved over the semester, I do hope that over the course of my lifetime, it becomes more and more refined through the accomplishment of my future writing goals. In regards to my development as a writer this semester, I have amassed a wide variety of skills and acquired a considerable amount of knowledge.…

I completed my ten-hour class observation at the private school Georgia Military Prep. The Georgia Military Prep School is located on Georgia Military College’s main campus in Milledgeville. At GMC prep I observed Ms. Jennifer Spencer's advanced eighth grade math class. Ms. Spencer has a decidedly pleasant air about her, a quick smile, and a brisk step that belies her ‘let us get the job done’ type attitude. On my first day observing her class, I soon gathered that Ms. Spencer always has a goal in mind when she sets foot in the classroom.…
