Personal Narrative-Mummy's Chronicle Of Birth

Decent Essays
As the chill fall winds came,
So did I,
Born at Fairfax Hospital,
Mummy groaned,
Dressed in a hospital gown,
Laying on the bed,
Calling for the doctor.

I can only know one story of the day I was born,
Since babay was sleeping in the chair,
Mummy says,
As soon as I was born I was a very cute baby,
No swelling or anything.

Three of my aunts decided on the name Rameen.
Both Mummy and Babay wanted a boy.
Instead,
They got a very tall girl
With a big smile
And hair as wide as the equator.
They got a crazy, black haired, round faced girl
Who loves to read
And a passion for writing.

Every time I hear of baby me I hear a child
Who was very clingy and needy
Always crying
And never leaving her Mama alone.
By the time I was three
I finally decided

The arts of the western world have been largely dominated by the artistic standards established by the Greeks of the classical period. It is from the Greek word “theatron” meaning “a place for sitting”. It is said that the Greeks were the first people to erect special structures to bring audiences and theatrical performers together. The theatres were normally located near a populated area at the bottom, or cut out of a carefully selected, sloping hillside overlooking a seascape, plain, or city. They would then largely be constructed with three distinct parts: the theatron (viewing place) for spectators, the orchestra where the chorus and actors performed; and a later addition, the skene (scene building), which provided a scenic backing.…

I have be-friended people from all around the world and have managed to gather a few bits and pieces from each of their cultures. It is so fascinating finding out about traditions around the world. To strive in a multi-cultural atmosphere would obviously be tough, but I have thankfully done it more than once.…

Although the recent discovery of a 2500-year-old Persian mummy has proved to be a fake, the word 'mummy' is generally believed to derive from a Persian word, mummiya, meaning 'bitumen', used to describe the blackened state of ancient Egyptian bodies. The term is now generally applied to all human remains which retain their soft tissue, either by natural means or artificial preservation.…

The field of archaeology is one that requires two key qualities: curiosity and determination. It is a field of study rooted, fundamentally, in asking questions, and seeking out new opportunities. Whether an archaeologist is attempting to date an artifact, or piece together the lives of people who came before them, an archaeologist must always ask multi-disciplinary questions, try out new theories and methods, and gain new perspectives to make new discoveries or challenge old ones. It is also a field of study that mandates dedication, as the archaeologist not only must hone their skills on a dig site, but also academically, as they learn requisite languages, and hone academic writing abilities. It is because I consistently exhibit these qualities of curiosity and determination that I am a worthy recipient of this scholarship.…

The Egyptians practiced the art of mummifying their dead for 3,000 years or more in the belief that the soul would be reunited with the body in the afterlife, so the body had to be kept intact. A mummy is a dead body in which some of the soft tissue has been preserved along with the bones. Usually this means it was specially embalmed or preserved for burial, but sometimes natural conditions alone freeze, dry out, or otherwise prevent the body from decaying by inhibiting the growth of microbes. The most carefully prepared Egyptian mummies date from about 1000 B.C., but the earliest ones discovered are much older. Sacred animals, such as cats and crocodiles, were also mummified.…

Charles’s Narrative Essay A curious young energetic chubby baby, born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at Northeast Hospital weighing in nine and a half pounds was born. My hair looked so curly it looked like spaghetti, my eyes shined dark majestic brown and my hair also brightly shined dark brown when I sat out in the sun. As I grew up, I loved to imitate people I saw, therefore as I went to church on Sundays I usually felt bored in the weekdays since church closed then, so every day in family prayer I dressed up in a suit and acted like the pastor and make my parents, grandparent, and sisters sit down and forced them to give their money as offerings and also gave out grape juice and bread like in Holy Communion too. I loved to listen to stories…

As I read through the readings we have heard this morning, particularly our gospel, two memories from my childhood came to my mind. On the surface they seem to have little to do with what we have read, but bear with me, I hope to make them make sense. The first memory was of my mother, or more particularly my mother’s habit of beginning to watch a movie when it was half way through. I’m not sure if you’ve had a similar experience as that, where people join into the storyline after most of the character development and plot construction has taken place – leaving them with no clue what is going on, but for some reason an insatiable need to make sense of it. “Is he the good guy?”, “Oh, why did they do that?”, “Well this makes no sense at all?”.…
