I met a man my freshman year that the upperclassman swore would change my life. I had a hard time believing that I would grow as close to Mr. Kauffman, who was my student council advisor and physics teacher, as much as so many people already had. I quickly discovered that my gut instinct was far from true. Throughout high school, Mr. Kauffman recognized my potential, and encouraged the development of my confidence and leadership. Our bond grew as I began to feel the pressure of academics, athletics, student council, and work. Mr. Kauffman served as a mentor, and always provided a safe haven to get work done and talk things out. He pushed me past what I thought was my limit in physics, where I struggled, but, with hard work, improved immensely.
