Personal Narrative: Moving To Wilmington

Decent Essays
I moved to Wilmington just a little over four years ago and one day when I was exploring Wilmington I decided to take a tour at UNCW. After touring UNCW that day I instantly knew that UNCW would be the perfect school for me in the future. If I get into UNCW I plan to major in finance. And with UNCW having a great business school, with the Cameron School of Business being there, I would be able to pursue my degree there. I have heard many great things about UNCW from friends and faculty. I have spent the past two years being a full-time student at Cape Fear Community College and in my two years many of my instructors also taught at UNCW and have spoken very high of the university. UNCW would be the perfect school for me to finish off my four-year

For two weeks, I stayed in Charleston, South Carolina. I didn’t know much about the place, except that I referred to it as an army town because that’s where my sister and her husband, who was in the military, stayed. I was reluctant to go, but Charleston had a lot to offer me; a new change of pace and some new scenery was much more satisfying than spending the two weeks stuck in Iowa doing the same old routine. The weather was mystical in Charleston.…

Though these two environments are quite different, Something that didn't change was the family I would be raised in. Growing up in a family which which has taught me to respect my culture and morals as well as embrace my religion has paved the way for me as an individual to take a more broad understanding of the world. The person I am today reflects not only what my family has made out of me, but my surroundings as well. I found the nearest parking spot, ran into the building, managing to pull out my books for chemistry, and ran up to the 5th floor all before the instructor, Professor Jason, started his next lesson on the structure of proteins-- oh great, something that was sure to put me back to sleep. Instead of falling asleep I started to daydream about what I was going to do when I go back to Maine to see my family and friends. Professor Jason never seemed to notice that I wasn’t paying attention, then again, there is over 60 adults in my class all trying to get by to make a living in this big city. It’s only a quarter after seven when the professor decides to dismiss the class to move on to our next block, I had the next hour off before I had to attend…

Since i was 6 years old i have had two lives. One is confined to the months of june through august, the months of fireflies and bikinis. I live my summer life as a free spirit on lake Winnipesaukee NH. I wake up at 5 am, watch the sunrise, drink green tea, venture through the mountains of New Hampshire, dance in the rain, and spend days painting at the end of the dock. I swim in the lake with my siblings until our shoulders burn and eat melting ice cream cones until our stomachs hurt, loving every minute.…

Moving here from North Carolina when I was four changed my life completely, I was away from my family who I lived with my whole life, thrown into a school with a bunch of kids who lived here since they were born and told to “make friends.” This changed the next 13 years of my life to something I can never picture not having. The first four years, both my parents had full time jobs and my grandma helped raise me a lot, she taught me so many manners and how to behave, she even ended up living across the street from me for 2 of those years, they were rough for my parents, new baby, just moving, having to find jobs, making friends, and getting food on the table for me. Thats where my amazing family came in, with bringing home cooked meals…
