Personal Narrative: Moving To West Virginia

Improved Essays
Friendless, alienated, lonely. Nobody is very fond of moving. At least, I sure I’m not. We were living in West Virginia and I was in 7th grade. We rented a house in West Virginia one year ago. Life was going as it was planned. Great friends, school, teacher, everything I liked. The first place I felt welcomed and I just did not want to move which I had known from the beginning. My dad had a job that required him to travel around, since his job was completed in West Virginia, he was required to move. At certain times, I was just crazy enough to think that I would not be moving from here again. As time went on, this idea became a harsh reality. My dad began to look for work all around West Virginia, but he didn’t have luck. But I just kept telling myself that we would never move away. One day my dad came home and told us that they were planning to move to Texas. I had never known anyone or anything about Texas before and assumed that it was a bad place to live. I just couldn’t accept it. Once we had bought the land and our house started to be built, it was definite that we were going to move. …show more content…
I had always moved around in my life, but this was somehow different. The hardest part about moving was going to be leaving my best friend, Cameron. She was the one who guided me through school since I was terrible in English. Wherever Cameron went, I went; wherever I went, Cameron went. We were like two peas in a pod and it was going to be hard to leave her behind. I didn’t know how to be in front of her and tell her that I was moving, but when she found out, she was as disappointed as I was. The longer I thought of not moving, the faster it came by. When the day came, we loaded our final things onto the U-Haul and I quickly said a final good-bye to Cameron. After that, we left our old lives behind to start new ones in

When I moved to Orlando, Florida, I was twelve years old. I did not know what to expect when it came to the Orlando weather, their school system or their people. My mom called me one day when I was on my way home from school and told me we would be moving, at the time I did not know where we were moving to, but I knew I was not going to be okay with moving away from my neighborhood friends who I have been friends with since the second grade. Once I came home, the majority of our house was already in boxes and I refused to pack any of my belongings because at the time I did not want to accept the fact that we were moving to an entire different state.…

Despite the fact that my parents lived in California for a decade, they never forgot their motherland and would often take my brother and I for trips to India during the summer, so that they could meet their parents. When I was in fifth grade, my parents had made plans of relocating to India in order to live closer to my parents. Imagine you are a little kid on a dairy farm able to go and play with the slippery, slimy worms that are in the fields as the plow goes by, then go play with a cute baby calf that you're trying to name but can’t figure out what you want to call it when you're supposed to be doing chores. Those were the big problems I was faced with when I was a youngster, but my happy days were coming to an end when my mom and dad decided to get out of the farming. So they sold the cows, some of the equipment and took some of the draft horses to our new place in Dakota School District, when I was going into the 2nd grade. Moving off the place that all I ever knew as home was upsetting for me because I would not be able to go explore in the horse pasture and find something interesting to play with or talk to all the people that would come to the farm to help or do there job like the Milkman. Though there is more to farming than what I did I…

Moving is never a easy experience especially if it’s in between your freshman and sophomore year. Leaving the place where I first learned how to speak English and play basketball was very scary and hard. To make matters worse I tend to act really silly and ridiculous when I’m sad or angry so nobody really thought that I wasn’t really looking forward to a whole new life in a completely different place; however, I knew that the place where we were living was not doing any good for my mom and my dad’s job was stressful to the point where it was causing him to have really high uncontrollable blood pressure and sugar. That’s why I just sucked it up and didn’t really tell anyone that I really was not looking forward to moving to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. After school ended in June we packed our bags and flew to the new town…
