Growing up, I remember I would always been teased for how close I lived to the border; that I could walk to the border, and if I kicked my ball over my fence, it would land in the Rio Grande River. Besides growing up very close to the border, I believe I had a normal life. I grew up in a normal house, on a normal street, and had normal neighbors. Besides the normalcy of my neighborhood, my mother and father believed that I still needed to learn about my culture.
