A couple of weeks later we found out the he got the job and he started on July 25th. Little did my 10 year old self know, but this one little thing would change the rest of my life forever.
Next thing I knew it was July 18th moving day. In the course of a month I had to move away from all of my friends, my newfound family, and my home. We arrive in Saint Joseph, a city unlike anywhere I have ever lived. A city with lots of lights, rude people, and crazy drivers. I was used to a small town with farmers, a place where you know everyone, and quiet. Moving to Saint Joseph

For the next five years I lived in White Plains, New York and living there was unique, in that owning a vehicle was obsolete. I was able to walk to the store, the park and to school. The ability to walk everywhere gave my the opportunity to build relationships with my whole community and to many, it may come as surprise that even with living in a big city most of the people living within it knew each other. Even though I come from a culturally distinct country and lived in the city that never sleeps I can only call Baltimore, Maryland my home. Living in Baltimore, has had a big impact on my life because it has shaped my identity and personality.…

One cold and dreary day in January, I got home from an uneventful day at school. I never would have guessed what was about to happen or thought that this would ever happen to me. I was just a quiet freshman in high school. My father sat down with my family and told us that we were about to move to Texas. I was both shocked and a little excited to move because I’ve always wanted to go south.…

Nearly all my life I have lived in Saint Charles, Illinois. To most people, the name Saint Charles is just a random city in a large world with no personal value, but for me, it is far more than just that. My achievements through school, music, and sports all took place in this wonderful town that I'm so comfortable in. Going to college truly is the start of a vastly new chapter in my life.…

Last June, on a warm summer’s evening, Richard and I gathered at a nearby beachfront enjoying drinks and appetizers with others who had recently moved to Vancouver Island. The air vibrated with everyone's gratitude for being able to live in such a beautiful place (and for most of us finally reaching retirement). It was also filled with hope and optimism for all the possibilities that lie ahead. As I moved about in my usual chatty style, Richard settled into one spot getting into deep conversation with one other Newcomer. They both had a passion for CNN, both loved to rant about the antics of a certain President, and both were looking forward to their long-planned adventures that would come with retirement.…
