Personal Narrative: Moving To Palm Springs And Las Vegas

Decent Essays
They were visiting Los Angeles and decided to hire a car to drive to Palm Springs and Las Vegas, and then back to Los Angeles. The conversation was terrific, and they both thought I had a fabulous attitude. They have a very relaxed, non-judgemental, and open-minded outlook that I expect from the French and German people, which put me at ease.

I would have enjoyed spending more time talking with them, but it was now 11PM, and I had to leave soon due to my early start at work the following day. I informed them that I'm spending Thursday and Friday in Los Angeles for Thanksgiving in case they're back there by then, so we exchanged contact details. They mentioned they might return to Palm Springs next weekend.

Just before I moved to Cedaredge Colorado, the earth under my feet shattered and sent me falling into a place of unknowns. After arriving in Cedaredge, I surveyed several churches and found Cedaredge Community United Methodist Church. The church members took me in like they had known me for my entire life. This restored the ground underneath my feet. After I began participating in the church, I told the congregation that my mother had been in prison for two years.…

Growing up, my family and I weren’t very religious by any means. My parents grew up in Catholic families, but when they moved away from their families, they moved away from God too. Every time we were stationed in a new place, my parents always blamed not going to church on the military and how we would always be moving. My sister and I didn’t mind this, because we didn’t really know what church was, and didn’t understand the meaning of it, but when we moved to Louisiana in 2012, I met a friend that would change this. I met this girl Samantha, who seemed to be in a few of my classes.…

In that instant, it was as if my mom read my mind. “Now, let’s go get you two your first library card.”…

A universal theme for me moving from Texas to California is overcoming. I was 8 years old when my family moved, and had to overcome knowing no one, a new school, and being out of my comfort zone. At this age you tend to start making good friends, all hang out in groups, and be less adventurous. My parents kept saying, “Find people who like the same things as you, and everything else will be easy”. The next week I did just that.…

Hawaii, the home of white sand beaches, pro surfing, hula dances, and warm weather. If I could move to any region within the United States, I would move to Hawaii with no hesitation. Hawaii contains a prestigious hospital and the opportunity to become a surfer. Both of which of which I have always dreamed of being a part in. Nothing would make me happier than becoming an orthopedic surgeon operating out of a Hawaiian hospital working on shark attack victims and other unlucky victims who need orthopedic repair, then go straight to the beach to surf and relax for the remainder of the day.…

I was both shocked and a little excited to move because I’ve always wanted to go south.…

It was one of the best days this summer. It was a cool day in June when my family and I traveled to the airport to go to Las Vegas, Nevada. I was very excited to go to Las Vegas because I had seen how cool it looked on the movies and TV shows, and now I was finally going to be able to see it in person. Las Vegas is the setting in my favorite movie series, The Hangover, and I wanted to see all the places in Las Vegas that are in The Hangover movie series. We got to the airport and did all the pre-flight criteria before boarding our flight to Houston, which would eventually lead us to the Sin City.…
