Personal Narrative: Moving To Oklahoma

Improved Essays
After being in my room almost all day, reading my book, I went to go see what my family was doing. "We're moving!" my parents announced as I entered the room. Moving didn't bother me much, but when I was told we were moving to Oklahoma I was shocked to say the least. I was shocked because I lived in California at the time and I had only ever moved to a different city at most. This time though we were moving to a different state. A state that was about 1,279 miles away!

The day after the announcement I decided to start packing. I knew because we were going such a long distance we wouldn't be able to take everything. So I packed up all my necessity's and a few optional things. After everyone was packed up and ready to go we loaded everything up in the Uhaul and prepared to leave. I was excited to live in a new state but I was also nervous because I would have to learn my way around a whole new place and make new friends. Early in the morning we got in our cars, prepared for the long drive, and headed east.

After a good night's rest we continued our drive to Oklahoma. The closer we got we got the more nervous I got. After driving for another twelve hours we arrived in Mustang, Oklahoma at about ten o'clock at night. I knew since we arrived late we would be unpacking all day once we got up and I was NOT looking forward to

Years ago I left my home state of Alabama, where the skies are so blue and I moved to the not so great state of Montana. After around two months of conversing about moving to Oregon we’ve finally decided to move because of all of the farming space we will have and how nice the fertile soil will be. The past few years farming hasn't been treating our family too well and we’ve been trying to get by with all of our bills and taxes for the longest time. Our hope is that we’ll be able to move to a large field and grow our crops and start a home in the first year. I've heard lots of good things about the trail too, but I can still expect for there to be some hardships along the way. My sister in law was traveling down to Oregon but had to come back almost immediately when she ran out of money and had to come home and get money from her parents.…

March 1st, 2013, the night I turned my freedom over to a 5ft2 blonde whose name will be left unmentioned due to the integrity I have. I was a dumb stupid freshman and could not see past all the warnings I received from upper classmen warning me about this girl. I thought she was the greatest thing that walked the earth. I felt I was in love and that she was the one I would marry some day. When I found out I was moving back to Colorado after my freshmen year I felt the world was coming to an end because that means I would have to leave her behind.…

Personal Statement Excitement has always been what filled me as I discovered my family would be relocating, along with some worry of the outcome. At a young age we moved from Washington to California. We moved one other time in the span of 8 years in California. At the same time my dad was involved in the business world.…

Naturally, us humans can become scared. Fear can’t just be limited to traditional “spooky” things like spiders, as things like large crowds, adulthood, school and mental concepts terrify people. The most terrifying thing I’ve experienced, with my subjective fears in mind, was my all-too-sudden move from California to Michigan in late 2016. The song “Fragments” by An Unkindness, which I recently discovered, presents the fear I had with social perfection, rejection, and loss of relationships. Late 2016, my parents had let me know that in the next 2 months, we would be leaving our home in Carlsbad, California to a new house near Detroit, Michigan.…

Change Is Not Always Bad As I sat in my room and reminisced over the change that happened in my life, a smile crossed my face. My smile was not because I like change, but it represented me overcoming the fear that gripped me every time change occurred. Many times in life I began to love or hate certain factors that life handed me depending on how I went through my first experience of that situations. Change is one of those factors I hated because when I first encountered it, I was young and just did not understand why we had to move.…
