We would stay down there until my granny called us up for dinner. In the summer we would play on our large patio, jump rope, house and 4-square. I lived there with my mom and sister, but we moved because my mom was selling narcotics and the police raided the house. My mom became incarcerated and that forced us to move to Alabama and live with my grandma’s family. I was very unhappy. I hated every minute

Growing up, my family and I weren’t very religious by any means. My parents grew up in Catholic families, but when they moved away from their families, they moved away from God too. Every time we were stationed in a new place, my parents always blamed not going to church on the military and how we would always be moving. My sister and I didn’t mind this, because we didn’t really know what church was, and didn’t understand the meaning of it, but when we moved to Louisiana in 2012, I met a friend that would change this. I met this girl Samantha, who seemed to be in a few of my classes.…

When I was 9-10 years old I lived with my mom, dad, and sister in Lake Ariel, Pennsylvania. Lake Ariel was a small town where all you would see is corn, fields, and woods. We had lived in this house for two years and I had a good group of friends that I had met from school or extracurricular activities. I attended Western Wayne Hamlin elementary school and was in fourth grade. The school district was huge, covering six townships, but my school was small.…

The day I moved to Georgia, we had been living in Texas for five years when my mom said we were moving to Georgia. I graduated my senior year from high school I thought she was lying, but she said that the VA center down in Texas was awful, and she didn’t like it there anyways, but she really wanted a better VA system. Then we started packing every month putting stuff in storage, and having to do open houses every other week, we had to clean, vacuum and take our pets with us every time we left the house until our house finally sold. Then we started looking at houses In Grovetown, also for a good school system then we waited 3 weeks for a house because we were looking at spots with upstairs and down stairs, a big backyard for or dogs, also a school…

One cold and dreary day in January, I got home from an uneventful day at school. I never would have guessed what was about to happen or thought that this would ever happen to me. Growing up in southern Louisiana I often found myself sitting around and enjoying the abundance of delicious foods the area had to offer. My family would often eat more fried foods in a day than most families would eat in a week. By the time I was 10 years old I was weighing almost 150 pounds. I often found myself alone watching other kids gather up to play sports in the park. Lacking the physical strength and social skills to compete I often found myself at the early age of 10 seeing a doctor to deal with the stress of not being able to play with other kids.…

Moving here from North Carolina when I was four changed my life completely, I was away from my family who I lived with my whole life, thrown into a school with a bunch of kids who lived here since they were born and told to “make friends.” This changed the next 13 years of my life to something I can never picture not having. The first four years, both my parents had full time jobs and my grandma helped raise me a lot, she taught me so many manners and how to behave, she even ended up living across the street from me for 2 of those years, they were rough for my parents, new baby, just moving, having to find jobs, making friends, and getting food on the table for me. Thats where my amazing family came in, with bringing home cooked meals…

The one thing that is memorable to me as a child would be the hill that was behind of my apartment building in San Diego California. Before I discovered the hill, I would stay inside my room majority of the day watching cartoons on television or playing different types of board games like monopoly or connect four. I would also play on my mother computer, playing all types of game such as the Sims, the building of Sim City, and the bomber. I was not getting much outdoor activity.…
