When I first came to class, it was truly frightening getting in front of people to move my body like I have never moved it before. Even the dance move to the number of syllables to our names was way scarier than it should have been. The amount of growth that I have personally made, and that everyone else has made is tremendous. Moving was much harder, much less fluid than it was at the end of the semester. The more and more that we practiced movements, such as the partner touch and blind movement exercise. As part of an old high school tradition, hundreds of students crowded into a dimly lit cafeteria and danced until the air hung heavy and sweat glistened off every square inch of exposed skin. The schools that began the tradition of the modern homecoming dance most likely did not expect it to evolve into what it is today; at some point, we, as students, lost the true purpose of the event and instead became preoccupied with image. Even though I would have liked to think that those things did not matter, I still found myself altering my appearance that Saturday night to try and show off the best version of myself. I was not alone; other females joined me amidst a pile of cosmetic products and styling tools, and we had the pictures to showcase…

As I stated in my midterm, setting goals for myself only allow me to become a stronger dancer. This semester in Ballet II, I personally believe that I have grown tremendously as a dancer in ballet. With this being my first semester in Ballet II, I had a few ups and downs throughout the class. These goals included: fully executing my petite battements and completing a double left pirouette.…

It had always been a dream of mine to enter high school and be not only a member of the dance team, but an officer or a colonel. Since I am an experienced, competitive dancer and have been dancing since I was 3, becoming a member of the team was fairly simple, but I knew becoming an officer would be a challenge. I became a member of the team my freshman year and instantly fell in love with the change of environment. When sophomore year arose, being apart of the team became tedious, but my yearning passion to become a captain continued my intense drive.…

I found it showed my talents, where it seemed like I had not any other place. It seemed to become close to the point of an obsession, as I would lose myself in the rhythm of the music. All the hours put in dance were not in vain, however; rather, for every minute put in, became twice as good as before.
